Hamilton Wins in Australia

Lewis Hamilton continued his perfect weekend by dominating the Australian grand prix, leading every lap en route to his 7th victory in 8 races. For Hamilton it was a straightforward lights to flag victory with Nico Rosberg perpetually in tow, but behind the silver arrows, chaos and attrition ruled the roost. Kevin Magnussen’s McLaren never made the start, his Honda engine letting go early. Neither did Red Bull’s Danill Kyvat when a gearbox issue stranded the young Russian. Romain Grosjean’s Lotus never got going, Pastor Maldonado’s Lotus was bounced intoRead More

Lewis Hamilton takes pole in Australia

Lewis Hamilton cake walked to a dominant pole in Australia, taking the top spot on the grid by beating his team mate by over 6/10ths of a second and third place man Felipe Massa by nearly a second and a half. Behind the dominant silver arrows, Massa put in a great lap to nip the Ferrari’s of Vettel and Raikkonen by mere thousandths. Valtteri Bottas put the second Williams in sixth despite issues with back pain that may put his race chances in jeopardy. The best hometown hero Daniel RicciardoRead More

Barcelona Test Day 4, Final Day

The final day of testing in Barcelona was a quieter one. Valtteri Bottas comfortably topped the time sheets for Williams with a strong 1:23.063 on the super softs, with Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel 4/10ths behind for second place. Felipe Nasr had another strong run in the Sauber, coming in third with a 1:24.023 as he racked up a day high 159 laps. Rosberg in the Mercedes never went for a fast time, coming in only 7th on the day but racked up a second best 148 laps worth of data forRead More

Barcelona Test Day 3

Lewis Hamilton flew for Mercedes today, setting a best time on soft tires several tenths ahead of what rivals Massa and Raikkonen could do on the super softs, solidifying Mercedes position at the top of the field heading to Australia. Massa and Raikkonen each on qualifying simulations showed that the pre season form of both Williams and Ferrari has been no joke. McLaren-Honda had another rough day with Magnussen only putting in 39 laps compared to the day high 156 set by Hulkenberg in the Force India. Only one dayRead More

Barcelona Test Day 2

Nico Rosberg laid down the Gauntlet at Barcelona today. With a time over 2 seconds faster than last year’s pole and over a second faster than Valtteri Bottas in the Williams, Mercedes finally showed its pace. Behind the two best teams of last year, Felipe Nasr put in more impressive times and laps for Sauber, with Vettel’s Ferrari right behind. McLaren-Honda finally had a good day with Button coming in 5th on the time sheets and racking up 101 laps. Nico Hulkenberg brought up the rear for Force India whoRead More

Barcelona Test Day 1

Felipe Massa topped the time sheets for Williams in Barcelona today setting  a very quick 1:23.500 in the FW37. Behind him Marcus Ericsson continued Sauber’s strong testing form with a 1:24.276. Mercedes had their worst day of testing so far, Hamilton came in third with a 1:24.881 before an MGU-K failure sidelined his silver arrow. Only Massa and Ericsson managed over 100 laps on what was a slower day than usual, poor Jenson Button only got 7 laps out of the temperamental McLaren-Honda before a hydraulic ended their running. Texas in the Spotlight: COTA & TMS

Texas Motor Speedway and the Circuit of the Americas are 220 miles apart via Interstate 35, the backbone highway of Texas and the United States. For Bernie Ecclestone, it is of little note, but for larger than life TMS front man Eddie Gossage it is 220 miles too close. He raised a stir when F1 announced this year’s U.S. Grand Prix for the same date as his premier AAA Texas 500. Sine then the scheduling gaffe has led to criticism and the debate of whether or not it would forceRead More
The Mayor of Hinchtown is firmly in the driver’s seat heading into 2015. IndyCar’s most affable spokesman has jumped ship to rejoin Schmidt Peterson Motorsports and pick up the reigns where Simon Pagenaud has left off. It is a great contract and it firmly establishes the likable Canadian as a lead driver in the sport. In the time since the news broke he’s been all over the place. He hung out with Wade Cunningham and drove in the awesome SVRA vintage races down at COTA, bonus points for saying hiRead More
