By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer Heading into the Boyd Gaming 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Cole Custer is riding on some momentum after earning his first Top 10 finish of the 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series season last weekend. Custer also finished inside the Top 10 at the end of each stage at Atlanta, and he was one of only four Xfinity Series regulars to do so. Custer has one previous start at Las Vegas Motor Speedway which came last season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He startedRead More

By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer After scoring his first Daytona 500 Top 10 finish since 2015, Kasey Kahne looked to continue his strong performance in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The race was historic as it was the 2,500th Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race. In the first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice, Kahne’s No. 5 Farmers Insurance Chevrolet SS was seventh fastest. Qualifying was a disappointment however, as Kahne could not muster a lap faster than 29th. In the final practice, Kahne’s HendrickRead More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer After an early and disappointing end to his first NASCAR Xfinity Series race, Daniel Hemric was determined to bounce back with a good finish in the Rinnai 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. With two career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at Atlanta, including a top five in 2016, Hemric’s experience was beneficial. In the first practice, Hemric and his No. 21 Blue Gate Bank Chevrolet Camaro team were 16th in practice. He then topped the charts in the second practice and was fifth fastestRead More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer The last time the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series visited Atlanta Motor Speedway, John Hunter Nemechek took home the victory by just 0.305 seconds over Cameron Hayley. Nemechek inherited the lead after William Byron’s engine failed and leaders Daniel Suarez, Matt Crafton, and Christopher Bell were swept up in various incidents. Kyle Busch, Crafton, and Nemechek are the only former winners in the Truck Series at Atlanta in the field this weekend. There are three Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regulars entered in Saturday afternoon’sRead More

By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer After finishing third in the 2017 Advance Auto Parts Clash, Alex Bowman was unsure what the rest of his 2017 NASCAR season would hold. At the same time, GMS Racing needed a driver to fill-in for NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rookie JJ Haley who will not be 18 years old, and eligible on all NASCAR tracks until after the Active Pest Control 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Bowman now has the opportunity as he will fill-in for Haley and pilot the No. 24 FraternalRead More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer At restrictor plates races, including the Daytona 500 always expect the unexpected. That’s exactly what most Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers, including Kyle Larson, were thinking as they were about to experience stage racing for the first time. In qualifying, Larson put his No. 42 Target Chevrolet SS 16th on the grid. This put Larson eighth on the grid in the second Can-Am Duel. He finished ninth in a relatively uneventful race. Larson started his Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates in the 16thRead More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer After finishing the 2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season strong with seven wins and the Rookie of the Year title, William Byron was looking to continue that success in 2017. Byron moved up to the NASCAR Xfinity Series in the No. 9 Liberty University Chevrolet Camaro for JR Motorsports. Byron qualified a disappointing 17th, but behind teammate Justin Allgaier. The start of the PowerShares QQQ 300 at Daytona International Speedway seemed tame in comparison to the Truck race the night before. After a coupleRead More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer Prior to the start of the 2017 season, NASCAR instituted many changes throughout its’ top three series. Most notable of these changes were the race formats now including stages. In both the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series, 36th through 40th now only pay one Championship point. Another change that NASCAR instituted was the five-minute repair clock. Should a car or truck be involved in an accident, if the driver was able to return to pit road, the team is put onRead More
