NASCAR Next alum and 2017 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Elite 1 Champion Alon Day will return to Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series competition this weekend. He will make his first oval start in the Premier Series in the Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond Raceway for BK Racing.

Day will pilot the No. 23 Best Bully Sticks Toyota Camry for the team that he made his Premier Series debut with at Sonoma Raceway last year. He is the only Israeli-born driver to compete in the top-level of NASCAR competition.

“I am so excited to be back in the Monster Energy Cup Series again this year and to be sponsored by Best Bully Sticks,” Day said. “Best Bully Sticks is an up-and-coming brand, and as an up-and-coming driver, I know we share similar values about working hard to establish ourselves. My team and I are eager to introduce the NASCAR audience and their dogs to Best Bully Sticks.”

Although the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series competes primarily at road course venues, the Series annually competes in ‘American Style’ Oval Racing. In 12 total ‘American Style’ events, Day has one victory (Tours Speedway, Tours, France), seven top-five, and eight top-10 finishes. The Ashdod, Israel native has two oval starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, with a best finish of 24th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2016.

“When we learned Alon was a dog lover and had interest in racing in Richmond, we knew it was a natural fit to have Best Bully Sticks sponsor his car,” said Jay Basnight, chief marketing officer of TDBBS LLC. “We are excited to partner with him for this race and hope to see him in victory lane!”

Day is currently second in the Whelen Euro Series Elite 1 Championship Standings, two points behind Lucas Lasserre. In 10 starts this season, the 26-year-old has five victories, seven top-five finishes, and two pole positions. The next race for the Whelen Euro Series Elite 1 is October 20 at Circuit Zolder for the first of the final two rounds for the 2018 season.
