Team Penske today announced that DeVilbiss Automotive Refinishing will sponsor the No. 22 Dallara/Chevrolet and driver Simon Pagenaud at the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis on Saturday, May 9. Pagenaud, in his first year with Team Penske, is the defending race winner of the event.
DeVilbiss, and its parent company Finishing Brands, was recently acquired by Carlisle Companies, an established partner of Team Penske. Through its Hawk Performance brake pad division, Carlisle has experienced tremendous success with Team Penske in both INDYCAR and NASCAR competition. Carlisle will help highlight one of its newest and top brands through the DeVilbiss sponsorship with Team Penske.
“Carlisle is excited to be working with DeVilbiss, Simon Pagenaud and Team Penske for the upcoming Grand Prix of Indianapolis,” said Dave Roberts, Chairman/CEO of Carlisle Companies. “All three are top brands in their respective field and we are proud to have Simon driving the No. 22 DeVilbiss Chevrolet that will showcase our new acquisition at this event.”
DeVilbiss Automotive Refinishing, a division of Finishing Brands, is a leading global designer and manufacturer of refinishing equipment and productivity products. DeVilbiss offers a broad range of solutions for the refinishing market including spray equipment, disposable paint cups, air filtration, contamination control products and more.
“We are proud of the relationship we have built with Carlisle and its brands over the years and Team Penske looks forward to this new opportunity with DeVilbiss Automotive Refinishing,” said Roger Penske. “Simon was awfully tough last year in the first Grand Prix of Indianapolis and now that he is on board with us at Team Penske in the No. 22 DeVillbiss Chevrolet, we hope he can repeat that result. We want to help DeVillbiss grow as a company with Carlisle and a strong performance in one of the biggest races of the year will be a great start with our team and Simon.”
In the inaugural Grand Prix of Indianapolis in 2014, Pagenaud earned a dramatic victory in the first Verizon IndyCar Series race at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s infield road course. Pagenaud, who is currently seventh in the series point standings after three events in his first year at Team Penske, will look to make it back-to-back wins at the 14-turn circuit.
“This race will always be special to me, so to have a new sponsor come on board with us for the event is a great opportunity,” said Pagenaud. “I was honored to be the first INDYCAR winner on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course last year, so hopefully there will be a lot of eyes on the No. 22 DeVillbiss Team Penske Chevy. This is a big weekend as the race begins what we hope is a memorable month of May for Team Penske at Indianapolis.”
The Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis, run on the 2.434-mile road course that incorporates portions of Turns 1 and 2 and the front straight of the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval, is set for Saturday, May 9 at 3:30 pm ET. The race will be broadcast live on ABC.
