DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Following a vicious crash in a NASCAR Xfintiy Series race at Daytona, Sprint Cup star Kyle Busch is ruled out of the 57th annual Daytona 500.
The extent of his injuries are unconfirmed to this point, but was receiving attention to his right leg by the track medical personnel at the site of the crash. Busch was put on a stretcher and transported to Halifex Medical Center and is currently still being evaluated.
The crash happened on lap 113 while Busch was running fourth of the Alert Today Florida 300.Busch got into the back of teammate Erik Jones, which started a 10 car wreck on just past the tri-oval heading into turn one. Jones started to spin, Busch appeared to get bumped from behind by the No. 2 of Brian Scott and suddenly he was losing control and headed for the inside wall.
Busch hit the wall head on. The wall was not secured by a SAFER barrier.
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver was set to start The Great American Race from the fourth position.
