The Performance Friction Corporation will become the exclusive supplier of brakes for the Verizon IndyCar Series as part of a multi-year agreement starting with the 2017 season.
PFC will replace longtime brake supplier Brembo, which has supplied carbon brakes to the series since the introduction of the Dallara DW-12 chassis in 2012.
Jay Frye, INDYCAR president of competition and operations, noted that the change comes following a number of teams and drivers having tested PFC’s brakes earlier in the season, where they were met with positive reviews.
PFC has a long history of building outstanding performance products that we expect to be a great benefit to the competition in the Verizon IndyCar Series,” said Frye. “We’re excited to kick off this partnership with PFC and appreciate all their efforts and commitment to INDYCAR.”
PFC previously supplied brakes to the Champ Car World Series and also supplies brakes to the series in the Mazda Road to Indy.
“INDYCAR has always been close to our hearts at PFC,” said Nina Burgoon, president of PFC. “We are excited and honored that this long-awaited partnership is now a reality. PFC is committed to providing the best-performing package for the car and is thankful for the opportunity INDYCAR has given us to exceed their expectations.”
