Rhodes’ No. 41 Team Fined, Crew Chief Suspended for Atlanta

Ben Rhodes enjoyed a stout fourth-place finish in last Friday’s NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway, but it has since been overshadowed by an L1 penalty handed out by NASCAR Wednesday.

The outcomes of the penalty have also led to the suspension crew chief Eddie Troconis for Saturday’s Active Pest Control 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Additionally, Troconis was fined $5,000 after the rear of Rhodes’ No. 41 Ford F-150 was too low during post-race inspection.

ThorSport Racing will also be penalized 10 driver and owner points, relegating Rhodes from seventh to 16th in the Camping World Truck Series standings.

Rhodes is tied in points with Norm Benning and trailing co-eighth-place holders Jordan Anderson and Cody Coughlin by five points. If a tiebreak is needed, his finish at Daytona won’t count towards playoff eligibility.

ThorSport made no comments regarding appeals or substitutions for Troconis.

Entering his second season with Rhodes, the duo finished fifth in last season’s series standings and scored an elusive win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Despite early setbacks in their quest for a championship, Rhodes’ first two trips at Atlanta has been successful, recording two top-10 finishes with a fourth-place effort last year being his personal best.

The No. 41 team will bring “Jasmine” to Atlanta, a truck that captured a pole at Pocono Raceway and led 43 laps at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
