The NTT IndyCar Series races at Road America and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca both have new title sponsors for their upcoming 2019 races.
The June 23rd race at Road America will be called the REV Group Grand Prix at Road America. REV is a parent company of more than 30 specialty vehicle brands that span emergency, bus, recreation and specialty markets. In appreciation of first responders, REV will also host a special hospitality area at Road America to salute them.
“REV is excited to be the title sponsor of the NTT IndyCar Series event at Road America,” said Tim Sullivan, President and CEO of REV Group in a track statement. “Road America is one of North America’s premier road courses, and a proud part of our community. Motorsports is an effective platform for REV to connect with our customers and showcase the technology, engineering and quality we put into our vehicles. We are using the REV Group Grand Prix at Road America to pay tribute to first responders, sharing our appreciation for the dedicated people who use our vehicles each day to serve their communities.”
To end the season, WeatherTech Raceway announced that Firestone would sponsor the season-ending Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey. The September 22nd event will be the first IndyCar race held at WeatherTech Raceway since 2004 and will allow Firestone to bookend the 2019 season since it also sponsors the season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
“Firestone is a time-tested brand with a rich tradition in open-wheel racing, making it the perfect match for INDYCAR’s return to this iconic road course,” said Lisa Boggs, director of motorsports, Bridgestone Americas in a release. “With this new sponsorship, Firestone now will help deliver great events for fans when the NTT IndyCar Series season goes green in St. Petersburg and crosses the finish line in Monterey – while continuing to provide world-class tire technology for every lap in between.”
Firestone celebrates its 25th year as an IndyCar tire supplier upon its return to the sport after a two decade hiatus and its 20th year as exclusive tire supplier to the NTT IndyCar Series. The 2019 NTT IndyCar Series kicks off in St. Petersburg on March 10th.
