By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer

After starting the 2017 season with Top 10 finishes in both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Scott Lagasse Jr. will now add another four races to his 2017 schedule.

Lagasse Jr. will drive the No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro for Richard Childress Racing, joining Ty Dillon as they compete for the 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series Owners Championship. On the pit box, Lagasse Jr. will have first-year crew chief Matt Swiderski calling the race.

In the NASCAR CWTS NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway, Lagasse Jr. drove the No. 24 FDOT Chevrolet Silverado for GMS Racing. After starting 14th, he finished seventh after the pile-up on the final lap. In the NASCAR Xfinity Series PowerShares QQQ 300, he started 25th in the No. 24 FDOT Toyota Camry for JGL Racing and finished a career-best sixth.

In 62 career Xfinity Series starts, Lagasse Jr. has six Top 10s. He also has one top five and four Top 10s in 26 Truck Series starts.

Lagasse Jr. will compete at Iowa Speedway on June 25, Road America, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and the season finale Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Gil Martin, director of competition for RCR’s NXS program, has confidence in Lagasse Jr.,

“We welcome Scott to our impressive lineup of this season’s XFINITY Series drivers. Our goal is to win races and win this year’s owner’s championship, and I’m confident that Scott will help the No. 3 team accomplish those goals.”

Lagasse Jr., was honored to have an opportunity behind the wheel of the No. 3 car for Richard Childress,

“Knowing the history of the # 3 car and what it means to Mr. Childress, it is a real honor for me to be a part of this team. I look forward to helping RCR win an owner’s championship this season.”

Sponsorship for the races in which Lagasse Jr. will compete in will be announced at a later date.

With Ty Dillon scheduled to run 20 races, and Lagasse, Jr. competing in four, it appears that Richard Childress Racing’s No. 3 Xfinity program has just nine races left to fill.
