Snider: ‘It’s Been a Dream of Mine’ to Race ‘the Big-Oval’ at Charlotte

By Seth Eggert, Staff Writer

CONCORD, N.C. – Tonight, a dream will come true for Charlotte, N.C. native Myatt Snider, as he competes in the North Carolina Education Lottery at the 1.5-Mile Charlotte Motor Speedway. Snider, has driven at the fifth-mile and the quarter-mile ‘Legends Oval’ at Charlotte, but never the 1.5-mile Quad Oval, until now.

Snider has nine starts on 1.5-mile tracks in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with two top-10 finishes. 37 of the 38 laps that the ThorSport Racing driver has led in his career have come at 1.5-mile tracks.

“It’s awesome to be coming home to my home track of Charlotte Motor Speedway,” Snider said. “I’ve wanted to run the big-oval for a long, long time now. I finally get the opportunity to do so this weekend with the No. 13 Century Container | Louisiana Hot Sauce Ford F-150 team. It’s been a dream of mine for a long time.”

In addition to the two top-10 finishes on 1.5-mile tracks, Snider has just one finish worse than 16thafter getting involved in an accident at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on the first lap last year. Half of the top-10s that he has earned this year have come on 1.5-mile tracks. Snider was leading at Kansas last week until the fuel mileage forced him to pit late in the race. The chassis that the driver of the No. 13 Ford F-150 will be using has three top-10 finishes since it debuted with Matt Crafton at Chicagoland Speedway in 2016.Sarah Crabill/Getty Images

“Obviously, you get to see the big track when you run the Legends track, which I have before. Being able to come here and compete is quite a blessing, so I’m looking forward to it. I think we’ll be able to put together a good run – we’ve had a good mile-and-a-half program all year with our No. 13 team. The fact we’re going to my home track is a little-added motivation for the weekend.”

Snider enters Charlotte 10th in the Championship Points Standings, 108-points behind Points Leader Johnny Sauter. He is also just six points behind the cutoff for the Playoffs, held by Justin Haley.

Now Snider and the entire No. 13 Century Container / Louisiana Hot Sauce Ford F-150 team will look to improve at his hometrack.
