Ferrari off to a flying start in Spain

Sebastian Vettel set the quickest time of opening practice at the Circuit Barcelona-Catalunya ahead of team-mate Kimi Raikkonen as Ferrari made a flying start to the Spanish Grand Prix weekend. Vettel and Raikkonen’s times were set on the soft Pirelli tyre, the softest of the three compounds on offer this weekend, with the Italian squad being the only ones to use that tyre during the 90-minute session. Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton set the pace in the early part of the session, using the medium compound tyre, but halfwayRead More

The two-time champ has been sidelined by FIA doctors after the scary crash he had with Haas F1’s Esteban Gutierrez in the season opening Australian Grand Prix. Alonso has further revealed that he has a broken rib and a lung issue called a pneumothorax, where air gets trappedRead More
By Adam Tate, Managing Editor Despite their incredibly successful start to the season, Haas F1 Team plans to end development of the VF-16 sooner rather than later and switch their focus to the 2017 car. After becoming the first team to score points on debut since Toyota, Gene Haas is eager to allocate most of the new outfits resources into preparing for next season’s massive regulation changes which aim to bring faster cars, wider tires and the halo device. Raikkonen, the 2007 world champion, has shown flashes of brilliance during his second stintRead More

All that remains is for CVC to decide whether or not they are finished bleeding Formula One dry and agree to sell. Miami Dolphin’s owner Stephen Ross has built a consortium with Qatar Sports Development and they are reportedly open to a seven to eight billion dollar bid. Their main competition seems to beRead More

By Joey Barnes, Editor-in-Chief Max Verstappen was left frustrated at his Toro Rosso teammate Carlos Sainz Jr. and the team’s strategy following the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday. The Dutchman had a promising start to the race, maintaining fifth after a frantic start. However, the 18-year-old’s afternoon took a wrong turn following a restart after the red flag on lap 18. Verstappen endured a slow stop on lap 33, dropping in the running order and falling in behind Sainz. From there Verstappen was slowed by his teammate, which led toRead More
By Adam Tate, Managing Editor Nico Rosberg led home a Mercedes one-two finish from Albert Park in what was a madcap start the 2016 season. Despite the typical result of a Mercedes double podium, the circuitous route the race took to its conclusion proved entertaining, terrifying and intense. The plot thickened before the race ever got underway as Daniil Kvyat’s Red Bull succumbed to electrical gremlins by stalling on the way to his grid position. The team ran to remove the car while the rest of the field embarked upon aRead More
