Former NextEra Energy Resources 250 winner Timothy Peters will start off the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series with a ride at Niece Motorsports. Last fall’s Talladega winner will pilot the No. 44 Chevrolet Silverado in the opening three races of the season (Daytona, Atlanta and Las Vegas).

Additionally, Friends of Jaclyn Foundation will sponsor the 11-time series winner’s truck, with a goal of bringing awareness and improving children’s lives who are battling pediatric brain tumor and other childhood cancers.

Adopt-A-Child, Safe on the Sidelines and Guardian Angel Programs, the foundation are able to raise awareness, which has Peters excited about having them on his truck, beginning at season opener at Daytona Feb. 15.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity to race the first three races for Niece Motorsports,” said Peters. “Al Niece, Cody Efaw and everyone within Niece Motorsports have been working very hard towards the 2019 season, and I’m looking forward to showing what we can accomplish and build in these first three races.

“Also, it is an honor to represent the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation at Daytona. We hope to bring awareness to children that have been diagnosed with brain tumors and other pediatric cancers. Thanks to everyone that made this opportunity possible. Daytona here we come!”

Niece Motorsports General Manager Cody Efaw said that the 2010 Daytona winner brings experience to the team that’s entering their fourth season.

“Timothy is a proven winner and we are thrilled to have him on board to start this season,” said Efaw.  “He has a ton of experience in these trucks and obviously a tremendous amount of talent.  As a team we are excited about what Timothy brings to the table and look forward to running up front with him behind the wheel.”

Last season, Peters qualified in five out of seven race attempts in Trucks, scoring a win at Talladega with GMS Racing, two top-fives and four top-ten finishes. At Daytona, Peters will be teammates with Ross Chastain, who will run a partial schedule for Niece as well.
