XPEL, Inc. announced Thursday it’ll be Team Penske’s “Official Protective Firm Partner” in the NTT IndyCar Series and will be sponsoring reigning series champion Josef Newgarden’s No. 1 Chevrolet.
The leading provider of automotive paint protective firm and window tint will be onboard Newgarden’s yellow and white machine in the GMR Grand Prix at Indianapolis May 9, 2020 and Texas Motor Speedway June 6, where he’s the defending race winner.
Additionally, the partnership is multi-year deal and XPEL will be the primary sponsor for a third Penske entry, beginning in 2021.
Newgarden said being the San Antonio based company’s first sponsored driver brings tremendous optimism for he and Team Penske.
“When you race for Team Penske you are certain of two things – you will be in well-prepared cars with a chance to win every week and you will get a chance to represent some outstanding partners,” Newgarden said. “It is an honor to be the first race car driver to represent XPEL and I’m excited about carrying their brand at two fantastic venues next season. Partnerships are the lifeblood of our sport and I can’t wait to get XPEL to Victory Lane.”
Penske commented that he hopes his new partnership with XPEL will build business opportunities and further brand recognition.
“We are excited to welcome XPEL to Team Penske in 2020,” Penske said. “Motorsports provides a great opportunity to build the XPEL brand and we hope to build on a lot of business-to-business opportunities with their group. We look forward to delivering for XPEL both off and on the track as they compete with Josef and the defending champion No. 1 Chevy team starting next season.”
XPEL CEO Ryan Pape has considered being involved in the world of motorsports for quite some time, but wanted to make the right decision as far which team he wanted to partner up. Once the decision was made, it became clear that partnering up with Penske was the way to go.
“No one matches the success, class and integrity of Roger Penske, Team Penske and Penske Automotive Group,” Pape said. “We are thrilled to be associated with Josef Newgarden as he is a proven winner. He will have plenty of support from our network of employees and dealers both at Texas and at Indianapolis.”
This past season, Newgarden capped off a career defining campaign with four wins, seven podiums and a career-high average finish of 5.6. It was strong enough for Newgarden to hoist his second Astor Cup in three years. The Tennessean will be entering his fourth season with Penske, hoping to retain the No. 1 plate in his Chevrolet.
