The safety team following the Verizon IndyCar Series will have new branding in 2018.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) officials announced Tuesday that American Medical Response (AMR) and the sanctioning body have reached an agreement for the company to become the title sponsor of the industry-leading INDYCAR Safety Team, replacing Holmatro.

“In our opinion, INDYCAR’s safety team is the finest in motorsports,” INDYCAR President of Competition and Operations Jay Frye said in a release. “We are excited to partner with AMR to continue building the legacy of this outstanding group.”

As part of the new multi-year partnership with both IMS and INDYCAR, AMR will brand the INDYCAR Safety Team, adorning their firesuits, trucks and transporter in their traditional red, white and blue colors.

The company will also provide ground medical transport services (both emergency and non-emergency) at IMS as the Indianapolis, Indiana track’s official ambulance provider for the INDYCAR Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500 and the Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard.

“The INDYCAR Safety Team has a world-renowned history of setting the standard for emergency services in motorsports, and AMR is proud to sponsor the group for the 2018 season and onward,” AMR President and CEO Ted Van Horne said. “With our focus on safety and experience providing onsite medical responses at numerous sports venues, there is a natural fit for us to sponsor the safety team.

“We are also pleased to be the official provider of ambulance services at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.”

This is the second major motorsports partnership AMR has reached in recent years. The company formed a similar pairing with NASCAR prior to the 2017 season, becoming the Official Emergency Medical Services Partner of NASCAR and supplying a doctor and paramedic to the on-track safety team during each race weekend for the tour’s premier series.

Former title sponsor Holmatro will remain involved with both INDYCAR and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, serving as their Official Rescue Tool Provider.
