Hulkenberg finishes sixth in WEC debut

In his World Endurance Championship debut, Nico Hulkenberg finished sixth with the Porsche team at Spa-Francorchamps.

Hulkenberg, driver for Force India in Formula One, was driving the Porsche 919 Hybrid in preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans next month.

The German was in contention for a podium result until co-driver Nick Tandy got together with a Porsche 911 RSR backmarker while attempting to lap it. After a brief set of repairs to the nose there was no chance for a podium once Hulkenberg got back into the machine, eventually falling three laps down to the leaders.

For Hulkenberg, it was still experience well needed before tackling Circuit de la Sarthe in the most celebrated race in motorsports, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
