The month of May is filled with some of the best motorsports events on the calendar from the Indianapolis 500 to Friday nights under the lights as local short tracks across the country rev up their schedules. At the end of the month the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards returns to the hub of the stock car world for the first time since 2004. The stars and cars of the series hit the 1.5-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday, May 24 for the General Tire 150.
With NASCAR also competing at the track for the Coca-Cola 600 that weekend, the Charlotte area will once again be alive with festivities and fan events. Mason Mitchell Motorsports is joining in on the fun, opening the doors of their shop in Mooresville, North Carolina for their first ever MMM “Fan Fest.”
The full details of the inaugural event are below:
Date: Tuesday, May 22
Time: 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. ET
Location: 223 Rolling Hill Road, Mooresville, North Carolina 28117
The team owned by 2014 ARCA champion Mason Mitchell has made a name for themselves with driver development, working with 11 different drivers in 2018 and 18 different drivers in 2017. The past two seasons have seen the team earn three wins and 14 top-five and 32 top-10 finishes.
“We wanted to offer our fans that are in the area an opportunity to spend time with us and our drivers,” Mitchell said. “We have the greatest fans in the world and we want to show them how much they mean to us. Without them, racing wouldn’t be possible, and for that it’s the least we can do.”
The team will have numerous giveaways throughout the day ranging from race tickets, merchandise, sheet metal and an overall grand prize. The MMM 2018 family of drivers will be on hand to sign autographs and participate in games with those fans in attendance.
The team will field two entries in Friday night’s race at Charlotte with Max Tullman and Quin Houff behind the wheel of the team’s Chevrolets.
The 20-year-old Tullman has two career ARCA starts, both with MMM this season. The sports car veteran finished sixth at both Daytona and Talladega and is scheduled to compete in a minimum of five other ARCA races (Charlotte, Pocono Raceway (June), Michigan International Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway and Iowa Speedway).
Houff made his ARCA debut last season at Daytona International Speedway and led 23 laps in the No. 98 Mason Mitchell Motorsports Chevrolet before being involved in the typical superspeedway melee. In the 2018 season-opener, Houff was again involved in an accident that relegated him to a 32nd-place result. Houff will make at least three additional starts with Mason Mitchell Motorsports in 2018 including Charlotte, Michigan and the second Pocono race.
