105th Indianapolis 500 Tag

By Luis Torres, Staff Writer INDIANAPOLIS – It was the Honda show during Fast Friday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Whether it’s single-lap or a four-lap average, they ruled the speed charts. The stranglehold was strong that only three Chevrolet drivers cracked the top-10 on the four-lap average. One of the three also was the lone man who’s one-lap speed made the top-10. That guy was Arrow McLaren SP’s Pato O’Ward. The XPEL 375 winner was sixth fastest in single-lap speed at 232.034 mph with his four-lap average of 231.522 mphRead More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer INDIANAPOLIS – It’s been nine years since Chip Ganassi Racing has won the Indianapolis 500. Certainly, a long drought for the four-car organization that consists of Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Alex Palou and one Marcus Ericsson. After three days of solid progress in preparation for the 105th Indy 500, Ericsson continues to quietly build momentum. Not just for the Month of May, but this season as a whole. One of the key contributing factors is being with his No. 8 team for two straight seasonsRead More

By Kirby Arnold, Staff Writer INDIANAPOLIS – After two days of practice with little more than close calls and accelerated heartbeats, preparations for the Indianapolis 500 came to a crunching halt Thursday afternoon when Santino Ferrucci spun in Turn 2 and pounded the SAFER Barrier at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Ferrucci was running with a large group of cars when his No. 45 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Hy-Vee-sponsored Honda broke loose midway through the turn and hit hard with the left rear, and then left front, before sliding along the outsideRead More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer After going a whole day without any true drama yesterday, Thursday’s practice session for the 105th Indianapolis 500 quickly did. Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing were doing a photo op with its drivers Takuma Sato, Graham Rahal and Santino Ferrucci. However, drivers Colton Herta, Scott McLaughlin and Simona De Silvestro didn’t realize what was going on until it was a bit too late. What transpired was Herta was going at full speed compared to everyone else. Consequently, Herta barely avoided tangling with McLaughlin, but ended upRead More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer The momentum set by Ed Carpenter Racing has become one of the main angles in the 105th Indianapolis 500. Not only the team have responded phenomenally following Rinus VeeKay’s GMR Grand Prix triumph last Saturday, they’ve been blistering fast. It shouldn’t really be a total surprise as ECR are known to show blistering speeds in many editions of the Indy 500. For Conor Daly, it’s the kind of momentum he sorely needs following back-to-back last-place finishes in the XPEL 375 and GMR GP. During Wednesday’sRead More
