By Josh Farmer, IndyCar Reporter A frightening incident on pit road on lap 64 has eliminated Alexander Rossi and Helio Castroneves from the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway. Rossi had been running in the top five for much of the race’s first 64 laps and was leading when he made his second pitstop. Following a routine stop, Rossi was released from his pit stall just as Charlie Kimball was attempting to pull into his pit stall and the two collided. Rossi was launched over #83 Trisheba Chevrolet and landed on top of theRead More
By Josh Farmer, IndyCar Reporter Sunday’s running of the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway has been postponed to Monday at noon ET due to persistent rain. A steady rain started to fall around 12:45 ET and the rains got heavier around 2:15 ET, which drenched the 2.5 mile superspeedway.  Unable to have enough time to dry the track before sunset, track and Verizon IndyCar Series officials elected to postpone the race until tomorrow. This is the second race of the 2016 season to be pushed back due to rain, theRead More
By Josh Farmer, IndyCar Reporter Mikhail Aleshin rocketed around Pocono Raceway to claim his maiden Verizon IndyCar Series pole in his 30th  start. The Russian, who nearly claimed his first series win in the previous round at Mid-Ohio, set the quickest time in this morning’s practice session and backed that up during qualifying to log a 220.445 mph average en route to pole at the 2.5-mile oval in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. “That’s amazing,” said an ecstatic Aleshin. “It’s my first pole in IndyCar and I’m so happy to bring car No.Read More
By Joey Barnes, Editor-in-Chief Pippa Mann will make her second appearance of the season in this weekend’s ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway with Dale Coyne Racing. The 33-year-old Brit will pilot the No. 19 Honda and continue the driver carousel that looks to continue for the second half of the year. Mann finished 13th at the 2.5-mile track known as ‘The Tricky Triangle’ last season, tying her career-best finish in the Verizon IndyCar Series, and finished 15th in her only other start there in 2013. With Pocono being theRead More
By Joey Barnes, Editor-in-Chief The Verizon IndyCar Series and Pocono Raceway have agreed on a two-year extension that will keep its relationship going through the 2018 season. The announcement comes in preparation for the fourth running of the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway, which is set for next weekend on Aug. 20-21. Although the 2.5-mile known as “The Tricky Triangle” has hosted events in both July and August throughout its return, future race dates for the extension are still to be determined. “We are thrilled to share this greatRead More
By Toby Christie, NASCAR Editor It may not have been a win, but Kurt Busch’s 10th place finish Monday at Pocono Raceway will net him a place in NASCAR’s history book. Busch became the first driver in history to ever complete every lap of the first 21 races of a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Busch’s record-breaking achievement coincidentally came after NASCAR called the Pennsylvania 400 22-laps from the finish due to unrelenting fog at the speedway. The 2004 series champion, who won at Pocono earlier this year, gave thanksRead More
By Reid Spencer, NASCAR Wire Service LONG POND, Pa. – Chris Buescher sat in his car on pit road, dreaming of the possibilities. NASCAR had just red-flagged Monday’s rain-delayed Pennsylvania 400 when a heavy fog settled over Pocono Raceway after 138 of a scheduled 160 laps, and Buescher was the unlikely race leader. “I’m thinking of every kind of rain dance I can,” Buescher said on his radio. The mental rain dance worked. When NASCAR ended the stoppage by calling the race because of weather, Buescher had his first victoryRead More
By Aaron Bearden, Contributing Writer No one wishes for weather-shortened races, but in small doses the wild card aspect of these events can add excitement and intrigue to an otherwise predictable NASCAR tour. Chris Buescher’s upset victory at Pocono Raceway in Monday’s Pennsylvania 400 isn’t likely to carry the same praise that other weather-shortened races have provided in the past after mother nature literally rained on the parades of Kyle Larson in his search for his first Sprint Cup Series win. However, what the win does do is offer storylinesRead More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer The last time that Tommy Baldwin Racing scored a top five finish was in 2011 when Dave Blaney finished third in the Talladega Chase race. Since it’s inception in 2009, TBR has scored just three Top 10’s and one top five. When the weekend started, it looked as if it would be another typical race weekend for Smith and his No. 7 APC Chervolet SS. Smith was 31st in the first practice, qualified 30th and was 30th fastest in the final practice. The race, scheduledRead More
By David Morgan, NASCAR Contributor When looking at the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie class and which of those drivers would be the first to make it to victory lane, very few gave Chris Buescher and Front Row Motorsports a chance to be the first winner with the likes of Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney in the field. However, Buescher was able to silence the doubters with an assist from Mother Nature as Monday’s Pennsylvania 400 was called 22 laps from the finish due to heavy fog that reducedRead More
