DETROIT– Felipe Albuquerque and Mario Farnbacher led their respective classes in Saturday’s warmup session ahead of the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic for the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship.

The Prototype and GTD-only event had Felipe Albuquerque setting the fastest lap of the session in his No. 5 Mustang Sampling Racing Cadillac DPi machine with a lap of 1 minute, 22.958 seconds around the 2.3 mile street circuit. Albuquerque and co-driver Joao Barbosa roll off fourth for Saturday’s race which isn’t surprising given that they were third in both Friday practice sessions.

Second in warmup was Juan Montoya with a fastest lap of 1 minute, 22.993 seconds. He and co-driver Dane Cameron will start second alongside polesitter Pipo Derani and Johannes van Overbeek who were 13th in morning warmup out of 14 cars in the Prototype class.

In GT Daytona, Farnbacher was fastest in his No. 86 Meyer-Shank Racing with Curb-Agajanian Acura NSX GT3 with a lap of 1 minute, 29.680 seconds. Farnbacher and co-driver Katherine Legge start second in class and have been fast all weekend, leading the opening practice and the pair were third fastest in the second session.

Second was the 3GT Racing Lexus RC F GT3 machine of Kyle Marcelli with a lap of 1 minute, 29.750 seconds. Marcelli and co-driver Dominik Baumann will start fourth in class which is a continuation of form for the Lexus team given that the team won their first race win in IMSA competition at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Of note, GTD polesitter Bryan Sellers and Madison Snow were ninth of 12 cars in the morning warmup session in their Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3.

The 100 minute race begins at 12:40 p.m. ET.
