By Luis Torres, Staff Writer The first IMSA competitor that’ll take part of the historic NASCAR weekend at the Daytona International Speedway Road Course will be Andy Lally, who’ll be driving for Our Motorsports in the Xfinity Series after announcing his plans Wednesday. Lally won’t just pilot the No. 02 Chevrolet at Daytona (Saturday, August 15), but also at Road America (Saturday, August 8) as it’ll mark the 2011 NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year’s season debut in Xfinity. Our Motorsports’ main driver, Brett Moffitt, will concentrate his racing efforts
Read More By Luis Torres, Staff Writer Attendance for the next month’s 104th Indianapolis 500 Presented by Gainbridge has been reduced from 50% down to 25% following Tuesday’s announcement from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In addition of the attendance being reduced for the August 23rd event, two more confirmations were made. The first being that ticket sales will no longer be permitted after Friday in order to make the attendance limit feasible. More importantly, face coverings are required for everyone who attend the 500-mile race. Penske Entertainment Corp. President and CEO Mark Miles
Read More By Luis Torres, Staff Writer Ever wonder how NASCAR would either benefit or become a detriment if they have a graduate level system to where performance and actions defines a competitor’s future in the sport? That’s what I got from Brad Keselowski’s comments following Sunday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Following a ninth-place finish, Keselowski had a lot to say about NASCAR needing to police drivers, making it pretty obvious he was referring to Quin Houff, on whether they’re capable of competing in the sport’s highest level. The
Read More By Luis Torres, Staff Writer On a race weekend dominated by Team Penske, their driver Joey Logano’s quest for victory came up short after finishing third during Sunday’s incident filled O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. A top-five result brought much needed confidence for the 30-year-old as he finished outside the top-10 in five out of the last six races. “Overall, I’m proud of what the Shell/Pennzoil Ford team did today, scoring a second-place in the second stage and a third in the finish,” said Logano, who led 22
Read More By Luis Torres, Staff Writer A multi-car crash on the 219th lap of Sunday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway brought out the 14th red flag this season. The race had just restarted a lap before with Brad Keselowski, who was running on a two-tire strategy, leading the way. Things got wild once his Team Penske teammates Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano came into the picture. Keselowski and Blaney had a tremendous battle for the lead, but Blaney got very loose in Turn 3, giving Keselowski the clear advantage.
Read More By Luis Torres, Staff Writer Will Power may have finished second during Saturday’s Iowa INDYCAR 250 at Iowa Speedway, but the biggest victory may have been the fact it was for once a normal outing. Following Friday night’s disastrous exit where his left front wheel wasn’t fully installed that resulted in a Turn 4 crash, Power didn’t have to worry about any catastrophic problems that’s come to define the past few NTT IndyCar Series campaigns, including this year. While his Team Penske teammate Josef Newgarden put on an absolute clinic at
Read More By Luis Torres, Staff Writer The mission for Arrow McLaren SP was to battle for the race win during Saturday’s Iowa INDYCAR 250 at Iowa Speedway. That wasn’t the case as two caution periods and pit sequences denied both Oliver Askew and Pato O’Ward a shot for a 1-2 result, a goal they’ve hoped to have accomplished. For much of the 250-lap race, it was O’Ward who had the strongest car among the two all night and appeared to be the only threat for pole sitter Josef Newgarden as O’Ward was
Read More By Luis Torres, Staff Writer Graham Rahal caps of a rather long weekend at Iowa Speedway with a third-place finish in Saturday’s Iowa INDYCAR 250 and feeling confident about his worth as a championship contender after 6 of 14 races. The superb result marked the 14-year veteran’s 30th career podium in Indy car competition and it had to be earned as the No. 15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing crew kept working on the HyVee Honda machine throughout the doubleheader at Iowa. More so when Rahal had two finishes outside the top-10,
Read More By Luis Torres, Staff Writer After an unforgettable series of races a year ago, NASCAR announced Saturday that the Triple Truck Challenge will make its return next month. The three races that’ll be a part of the Triple Truck Challenge will be at the inaugural Daytona International Speedway road course race on Saturday, August 16 (Noon EST on FS1). Followed by Dover International Speedway on Friday, August 21 (5:00 p.m. EST on FS1) and it’ll wrap up at Gateway on Sunday, August 30 (Noon EST on FS1). Last year, the NASCAR
Read More By Luis Torres, Staff Writer Over half a day removed from a insane Iowa INDYCAR 250, the 23 NTT IndyCar Series competitors were back in the saddle for a one hour practice session in preparation for tonight’s second 250-lap race at Iowa Speedway. Under very hot and windy conditions, it was two-time Iowa winner Josef Newgarden who set the fastest pace at 170.199 mph. Behind Newgarden was his Team Penske teammate Simon Pagenaud, Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan and rounding out the top-five was Takuma Sato. The defending INDYCAR champion will have
