FORT WORTH, Tex. — Matt Crafton insists he had “a blast” racing Daniel Suarez Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway, including a pair of late-race restarts that secured victory in the 19th annual WinStar World Casino & Resort 400. Crafton continued his recent domination of NASCAR’s intermediate racetracks, hammering out the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory over an aggressive Suarez. The two-time reigning series champion, Crafton recorded his eighth career victory by 0.569-seconds. “I had a blast racing with Daniel there at the end,” said Crafton, who scored hisRead More
LONG POND, Pa. – NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying can be fraught with twists, turns and unexpected bumps in the road. Friday’s qualifying session at Pocono Raceway, which saw Kurt Busch capture the Coors Light Pole for Sunday’s Axalta ‘We Paint Winners’ 400 had them all. Throughout the day, Turn 2 – the Tunnel Turn – had been a major topic of concern. “There are grocery store parking lots around the country that are jealous of those three bumps that have developed there,” said Busch, speculating that an offseason beautification projectRead More
DOVER, Del.—Jimmie Johnson, welcome to the club. With his overtime victory in Sunday’s FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks at Dover International Speedway, Johnson became the fifth driver to win 10 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at a single track, joining Richard Petty, David Pearson, Darrell Waltrip and Dale Earnhardt Sr. in sharing that distinction. Johnson’s triumph was his series-best fourth of the season and the 74th of his career, eighth most all-time and two behind NASCAR Hall of Famer Earnhardt in seventh place. DOVER, Del.—Chris Buescher had enough fuel left at the end of Saturday’s Buckle Up 200 NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Dover International Speedway to do a celebratory burnout, but his No. 60 Roush Fenway Racing Ford wasn’t the only thing that was smoking after the checkered flag. Yes, Buescher won for the second time this season and extended his lead in the series standings to 15 points over eighth-place finisher Ty Dillon, but his winning pass of teammate and Coors Light Polesitter Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr. left Wallace fuming. DOVER, Del. – Tyler Reddick had a score to settle with Dover International Speedway, and on Friday he did just that, winning the Lucas Oil 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race in his second start at the Monster Mile. Reddick passed Erik Jones on Lap 193 of 200 and finished 1.255 seconds ahead of Daniel Suarez, who drove past third-place finisher Jones in the closing laps to take the runner-up spot. CONCORD, N.C. – Will the mystery winner of Sunday night’s Coca-Cola 600 enter and sign in please? Hint: It’s the guy who does back flips every time he takes the checkered flag. But for the first 370 of 400 laps at Charlotte Motor Speedway, no one would have picked Carl Edwards or his No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota as the likely winner of the season’s 12th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. Martin Truex Jr., Kurt Busch and Denny Hamlin had spent the lion’s share of time at the headRead More
For the second straight Saturday, Denny Hamlin had the chance to hold off a race’s strongest car for the victory. Unlike last Saturday’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, however, there were too many laps left after the final restart in Saturday’s Hisense 300 NASCAR XFINITY Series, and polesitter Austin Dillon powered past Hamlin on Lap 186 of 200 to finish the race where he belonged—at the front of the field. By the time he crossed the finish line, Dillon was 2.692 seconds ahead of Hamlin, who had taken the lead duringRead More
