By Toby Christie, NASCAR Editor It’s not the news that NASCAR fans wanted to hear, but indeed NASCAR will kick off Tony Stewart’s final season without the three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion behind the wheel, according to a statement from Stewart-Haas Racing on Thursday. The statement from the race team read as follows: Tony Stewart, driver of the No. 14 Chevrolet for Stewart-Haas Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, sustained a burst fracture of the L1 Vertebra in an all-terrain vehicle accident Sunday while vacationing on the WestRead More
By Toby Christie, NASCAR Editor Chase Elliott is entering his rookie campaign in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this season, and he will do it with tons of sponsorship backing. We already knew that NAPA Auto Parts would be on board the No. 24 Chevrolet SS for 24 races. Additionally Elliott had deals in place with 3M, Kelley Blue Book and Mountain Dew, but there were still four races that the No. 24 team needed to fill sponsorship-wise for this season. By Toby Christie, NASCAR Editor We’re supposed to be drumming up the fact that Tony Stewart is heading into his final Daytona 500. It’s supposed to be a fun year-long send off for one of NASCAR’s all-time greats. We don’t know Stewart’s status for the Daytona 500 just yet, we won’t find that out likely until Thursday afternoon or later, but regardless it’s not the news the sports worldRead More

By Toby Christie, NASCAR Editor We are less than 20 days away from the official start of the 2016 NASCAR season. For the next ten months battles will be waged on short tracks, big tracks and tracks that have right handed turns mixed in. Around every turn a storyline will develop, and a new headline will be etched into everyone’s mind. But we’re still days away from the spawning of the 2016 season. Right now my job is to predict exactly what will happen in the 2016 season. Chances are I willRead More
By Toby Christie, NASCAR Editor Was there any better feel-good story in 2015 than Martin Truex Jr.? The man — who many feel is one of the nicest in the garage area — had been thrown through the ringer for a couple of seasons. His ride at Michael Waltrip Racing was lost following the 2013 season. Truex then landed at a single-car Furniture Row Racing team and proceeded to struggle in 2014. His long-time girlfriend and companion, Sherry Pollex, was in a battle for her life against ovarian cancer. Truex’s personal life and careerRead More
