Familiar faces are back in familiar places as Team Pelfrey announced that Ayla Agren will be back with the team for the 2017 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship powered by Mazda in the No. 82 Energima/Team Pelfrey Tatuus USF-17.
2017 will be Agren’s third year in the USF2000 championship. She campaigned in 2015 with Team Pelfrey but spent 2016 with John Cummiskey Racing. Prior to her stint in USF2000, Agren won the 2014 F1600 championship with the team before moving up.
Agren has had steady results when at the track. In 2015, she had 11 top 10 finishes out of 16 races on her way to tenth in the standings while in 2016 she finished 11th in points but missed four races because of a lack of funding. Her best finish in 2016 was a fourth at Road America.
“I am very excited to be back with Team Pelfrey. We’ve had some great results together in previous seasons and I am really happy to get the chance to work together again,” stated Agren.
“I’m looking forward to being back on the USF2000 grid in the new Tatuus [USF-17] car and on the Mazda Road to Indy ladder for the 2017 season. I cannot wait for the season to start!”
The 2017 USF2000 season begins on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida on March 11-12.
