FORT WORTH, Texas — Bubba Wallace comes into this weekend’s My Bariatric Solutions 300 at Texas Motor Speedway on a hot streak of sorts, as he has four-consecutive sixth place finishes. Wallace continued that hot streak by posting the fastest lap of the day in the NASCAR Xfinity Series — a 188.692 mph lap in the second practice session of the day.
Wallace looked relaxed and confident Thursday during a surprise visit to an assembly at B.B. Owen Elementary School in The Colony, Texas. And it really feels like things are finally starting to fall in the 23-year-old driver’s favor.
Wallace was followed by Brandon Jones, Erik Jones, Cole Custer and Matt Tifft in the second session.
Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Sunoco Rookie of the Year Contender Ty Dillon paced the first Xfinity Series session of the week in his No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro, posting a fast lap of 186.793 mph. Erik Jones, Austin Dillon, Ryan Blaney and Daniel Suarez rounded out the top-five fastest in the opening Xfinity Series practice session of the weekend.
Daniel Suarez is the only Xfinity Series driver who found issues in practice at the newly reconfigured Texas Motor Speedway, he spun in the first session but didn’t hit anything. In Cup Series practice on Friday, three drivers slammed into the wall.
