By Luis Torres, Staff Writer The final set of races have been confirmed by NASCAR Thursday with several changes to the playoffs and some series returning to race tracks once more or the first time in a long while. The Cup Series was the least affected with the announcement as all 10 playoff venues remain the same despite rumors of Las Vegas and Texas swapping dates due to the the former hosting the Electric Daisy Carnival. By Luis Torres, Staff Writer Both DGM Racing’s Alex Labbe and its owner Mario Gosselin have been reprimanded by NASCAR Tuesday, not only the team were fined $50,000, they’ve also been handed L2-level penalties. Labbe and the No. 90 Xfinity Series team have been docked 75 driver and owner points following a test session at the Daytona International Speedway road course Saturday. The sanctioning body stopped them because it violated the private testing policy. Here’s a photo of Labbe testing earlier today. By Holly Cain, NASCAR Wire Service With two wins in his pocket heading into Sunday’s Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Brad Keselowski was already in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, but it was this third win of 2020 that came in the sort of dominating style the championship contender hoped would show his team’s readiness to challenge for the season title. Keselowski, 36, led a race best 184 of the 301 laps around the “Magic Mile” and held off runner-up Denny Hamlin by 1.647-seconds to hoistRead More
By David Morgan, Associate Editor The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season has been a nightmare for Kyle Busch and didn’t get any better in Sunday’s Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Coming into the race with a season-long winless streak that he desperately would like to break, Busch started the day in fifth-place and was just biding his time early on when things went awry just 15 laps into the 301-lap race. Heading into Turn 3, Busch’s No. 18 car blew a tire, sending him hard into theRead More
By David Morgan, Associate Editor After a rare Thursday night race last weekend at Kansas, it’s back to regularly scheduled programming as the NASCAR Cup Series heads to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for Sunday’s running of the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301. First joining the Cup Series circuit in 1993, the 1.058-mile oval that has progressively banked turns from two to seven degrees is one of the more difficult tracks on the schedule as the flat nature of the track makes track position key with passing at a premium. As has beenRead More
By David Morgan, Associate Editor There’s a new wrinkle to next month’s NASCAR Cup Series race at the Daytona International Speedway road course in the form of a chicane that will alter the layout for the course’s debut race. The August 16 event was originally scheduled to run on the same layout as the Rolex 24 at Daytona, NASCAR and track officials elected to put in the new chicane between the exit of Turn 4 and the tri-oval, much like what is in place at the Charlotte ROVAL, in an effortRead More
By David Morgan, Associate Editor When the NASCAR Cup Series rolled into New Hampshire in June 2009, almost everything that could have gone wrong for rookie Joey Logano did, but at the end of the day, he would be the one hoisting the trophy in Victory Lane. Dubbed “Sliced Bread” as he made his way up the ranks, Logano got the nod to replace Tony Stewart behind the wheel of the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing entry when Stewart started driving for himself at Stewart-Haas Racing. The Middletown, Connecticut native hadRead More
