Dallara Starts Production for 2018 Aerokit

Dallara has begun production on the new 2018 universal aerokits for the Verizon IndyCar Series. After successful tests at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Mid-Ohio, and Iowa Speedway; Tino Belli and his crew have signed off on the first run of kits to be built at the Dallara factory in Speedway, Indiana.

The kits will come in super speedway trim (top), road course trim (middle), and short oval trim (bottom)

They have 15% less downforce than the current kits from Honda and Chevrolet, and develop much more of that downforce, nearly 70 percent from the underwing. The smooth, less cluttered, somewhat nostalgic look has made for a better handling, faster car that is a big hit with fans so far.

Test drivers Juan Pablo Montoya and Oriol Servia, driving cars prepared by Team Penske (Chevrolet), and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports (Honda) have raved about the cars after every test.

The only thing left to finalize is believed to be the Chevrolet kit based front brake ducts in road course trim, as a change in supplier from Brembo to PFC (Performance Friction Cooperation).
