IndyCar’s De Silvestro to lead all-female Bathurst effort

Simona de Silvestro will lead an all-female wildcard entry in October’s Bathurst 1000.

The IndyCar veteran will be partnered with V8 Supercars Dunlop Series standout Renee Gracie to drive a third entry for Prodrive Racing Australia, who fields entries for current V8 Supercars points leader Mark Winterbottom and defending Bathurst champ Chaz Mostert.

“The Bathurst 1000 race was actually the first V8 supercars race that I ever watched and it looked amazing,” said de Silvestro.

“The track looks great from what I have seen on TV. It looks really challenging and I can’t wait to see it for real and to drive around it.”

De Silvestro and Gracie will be the first all-female lineup since Melinda Price and Kerryn Brewer ran in 1998, finishing 11th.
