SONOMA, Calif. – Ryan Hunter-Reay and sponsor DHL will remain with Andretti Autosport through the 2020 Verizon IndyCar Series Season.
The team formally confirmed that the Texas product will remain with the team for four more seasons, making him set to drive for the team for 11 consecutive season.
“I couldn’t be happier about this announcement and the opportunity to continue with Andretti Autosport as an ambassador for DHL,” Hunter-Reay said.
“These next four years will take us to nearly a decade-long relationship with DHL and a full 11 years with the team.”
Since joining Andretti Autosport, Hunter-Reay has amassed 14 career wins including the 2014 Running of the Indianapolis 500. He also won the 2012 Verizon IndyCar Series Championship with the team.
“I can’t express how pleased we are to be able to announce that Ryan will be returning through 2020,” Michael Andretti said. “Ryan is one of the top, if not the top driver in the series and has been a leader within the team since he started with us in 2010, winning in only his third race (at Long Beach). Ryan has won 13 races, an INDYCAR championship and the Indy 500 with Andretti Autosport, and I have no doubt this partnership will put us in a position for further success.”
DHL’s confirmation will extend the partnership to a total of nine years.
Hunter-Reay is the only other driver confirmed at Andretti Autosport for the 2017 season, Marco Andretti being the other as Carlos Munoz and Alexander Rossi’s status is not known at the moment.
