DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – With inclement weather forecasted to impact Florida on race day, the start of Sunday’s 68th running of the Daytona 500 has been moved up by one hour.

Now scheduled for 1:30 pm ET on FOX, with a 2:13 pm green flag, the 2025 edition of the Great American Race will be latest to be impacted by weather in some form or fashion. Last year, the race was delayed by a red flag stretching nearly three and a half hours, while the 2024 race was washed out until Monday.

The National Weather Service is currently forecasting a 50 percent chance of showers after 1:00 pm with winds increasing up to 15 mph and gusts of over 25 mph possible.

Parking lots for Sunday will open at 6:00 am, with the Fan Zone opening at 8:30 am and gates opening at 9:00 am. All pre-race festivities, including a flyover from the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, are still scheduled as-is.

Kyle Busch will lead the 41-car field to the green in his pursuit of his first win in the Daytona 500, with Chase Briscoe starting alongside him on the front row.

Two-time and defending champion William Byron will start from 39th place in his quest to be the first driver to ever win the 500 three years in a row.
