DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Blue Ovals flexed their muscle in final practice for the Daytona 500 on Saturday afternoon as Ryan Preece topped the board in the last on-track session before the Great American Race.

Preece’s No. 60 RFK Racing Ford put up a time in the draft of 46.676 seconds to lead the way ahead of his teammates Chris Buescher and Brad Keselowski and the Team Penske duo of Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano.

The session, which only saw 19 cars roll out of the garage and 18 of those taking time, served as the first on-track time for the No. 60 team after making front end repairs to their car following the Duels.

“We’ve got a little bit of work to do,” Preece said of the feel of the car in practice versus what he felt in the Duels. “It’s difficult right now because it’s obviously hot. I’m curious because I think handling is probably going to be a little bit more of an issue than we all think. Yeah, I don’t know. There’s a lot of things that are running through my mind right now.

“I feel like there’s one thing I do know is the Fords are fast and we’ll try to be one of those guys that are up front.”

Teams will work overnight and through the morning to get their cars massaged and ready to roll when the green flag flies on the Daytona 500.

With inclement weather threatening later in the afternoon on Sunday, the race has been moved up an hour to 1:30 pm ET with a 2:13 pm green flag on FOX.
