Jeffrey Earnhardt will run a minimum of 12 NASCAR Xfinity Series races this season for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller, beginning at Atlanta Motor Speedway March 14.
Earnhardt will join fellow new drivers David Starr, Jesse Little, Robby Lyons and Colby Howard as part of the well-stacked stable this season.
This won’t be Earnhardt’s first rodeo with the team as he previously drove for them back in 2014. That year, he finished 18th in points with a 16th at Talladega and a 12th at the Bristol Night Race being his high points.
“I am really thankful to Johnny Davis and the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller team for having me onboard this season,” Earnhardt on the announcement. “These guys work hard every week and they’ve demonstrated the ability and desire to compete. I am looking forward to getting back on track this season!”
This past season, Earnhardt made seven Xfinity Series starts for both Joe Gibbs Racing and XCI Racing. In those starts, it was a career year for the 30-year-old as he scored an astonishing third at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
In addition to his third-place result, Earnhardt also scored a sixth at Atlanta and an eighth at Texas Motor Speedway, showing what he’s capable of at the 1.5-mile circuits.
A car number and sponsorships will be determined at a later date, with a good chance that if sponsors come Earnhardt’s way, his racing schedule could increase.
