Morning rookie and refresher tests complete

The rookie orientation programs and the refresher test programs are now complete for the first day of practice for the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Penngrade Motor Oil.

Max Chilton, Spencer Pigot and Alexander Rossi have successfully completed their required rookie orientation programs in order to qualify for the 500. The sessions include three phases of speeds running in increments of 5 mph starting at 210 mph and working to over 220 mph.

Matthew Brabham and Stefan Wilson only completed two of the three phases. Brabham didn’t turn a lap until around 90 minutes into the session as the team was still working on the car in the morning.

Meanwhile, five drivers completed their refresher tests: Townsend Bell, Bryan Clauson, Sage Karam and JR Hildebrand. Buddy Lazier was the only driver not to take a lap in the session. Bell turned the fastest lap with an Average of 224.179 mph.
