By David Morgan, NASCAR Writer As one of the newer tracks on the circuit, Kansas Speedway has had its share of races that have both been exciting and those that have been, well, not so exciting. The 1.5 mile track, which boasted 15 degree banking in its turns when added to the Sprint Cup Series schedule in 2001, underwent a facelift in 2012 to increase the banking to progressive banking ranging from 18 to 20 degrees. In this week’s edition of “Throwback Thursday Theater”, we’ll take a look back at

By David Morgan, NASCAR Writer Talladega always is a mayhem filled race, with rookies and veterans alike not immune to the carnage that could await any of them at any point in the race. On Sunday afternoon in the GEICO 500, two of the four rookies entered in the race would come away with top-10 finishes, while the others wouldn’t be as fortunate. Chase Elliott started on pole and showed that he would be a force to be reckoned with for much of the race, putting his No. 24 Chevrolet

By Reid Spencer, NASCAR Wire Service TALLADEGA, Ala. – Taking control in the final three laps of Sunday’s wreck-filled GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, Brad Keselowski claimed his fourth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory at the 2.66-mile race track and solidified his spot in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Choosing the top lane for a restart on Lap 186 of 188, Keselowski powered his No. 2 Team Penske Ford past Kurt Busch with two laps left and crossed the finish line as a gaggle of cars wrecked behind

By Toby Christie, NASCAR Editor We knew Tony Stewart wouldn’t run the full distance in Sunday’s GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, but we also knew if Stewart was going to have any shot of making it back into the top-30 in the point standings — which is part of the requirement needed for him to be in the Chase for the Sprint Cup — then his relief driver — Ty Dillon — would have to have a good day. Dillon delivered in a big way for the three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup

By Toby Christie, NASCAR Editor The career resurgence for Trevor Bayne continues in 2016, as he had an incredible race in Sunday’s GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Things have been looking up for Bayne heading into this week. He had recorded top-20 finishes at Las Vegas and California. Then a couple of weeks later in Texas, Bayne led 12 laps and was on his way to a top-10 finish, until his pit strategy was foiled by an untimely caution. Bayne would finish 15th that night. Two weeks ago in Bristol,

By Toby Christie, NASCAR Editor I think the career of Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s favorite restrictor plate car — Amelia — is officially over. The car, which was crashed hard in the season-opening Daytona 500, was repaired over the last few months by Earnhardt’s Hendrick Motorsports team and Sunday the car made it’s return to the track in the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. However, on lap 50, Amelia did the same thing that it did in February. When Earnhardt was navigating traffic in front of and beside him, the car broke loose.

By Reid Spencer, NASCAR Wire Service TALLADEGA, Ala. – Numerologists doubtless will have a field day with the front row for Sunday’s GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway (on FOX at 1 p.m. ET). Touring the 2.66-mile race track in 49.704 seconds (192.661 mph) during Saturday’s time trials, Chase Elliott put the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet on the pole, making the 20-year-old rookie driver two-for-two at restrictor-plate superspeedways. In his first qualifying run as a full-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver, Elliott won the pole for the season-opening Daytona 500.

By Toby Christie, NASCAR Editor On most weeks in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, only the super teams (such as Hendrick Motorsports, Team Penske, Joe Gibbs Racing and a few others) should really expect to end their day in victory lane. In order to win at intermediate 1.5-mile speedways it takes teams of engineers, and millions of dollars just to finish inside the top-10. Talladega though, is a different animal. Instead of gobs of resources, it just takes an unrelenting will to win and incredible intestinal fortitude to conquer the day at
