Pabst Racing Services, World Speed Motorsports and Carlin have all added to their Mazda Road to Indy presented by Cooper Tires rosters with driver announcements that add to each of the three series that make up the MRTI.
Pabst announced that Calvin Ming will be joining the team to pilot one of their cars in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship powered by Mazda. The Guyanan driver started his career in karting in 2012 before moving up to winning races in F1600 and has competed in the FIA NACAM Formula 4 championship in Mexico where he currently leads the points with three wins from 11 races.
Moving up to the Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires, perennial National Class driver Bobby Eberle rejoins World Speed Motorsports with whom he worked from 2013 to 2015. Eberle has won the 2014 and 2015 Expert Class before it was renamed in 2016 to National Class for drivers over the age of 20 and with a lower entry cost.
In Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires, Carlin has added their third driver to the lineup following the shut down of their GP2 team. Zachary Claman De Melo had signed with Carlin’s GP2 team but the team’s shift in priorities moved him back to Indy Lights after spending 2016 with Juncos Racing.
The Canadian had three top five finishes, nine top ten finishes and two fastest laps out of 18 races to finish ninth in the standings. Last year was his first full year racing one series of cars as he participated in numerous Formula Renault 2.0 championships in 2015.
