Brennan Poole once again impressed in qualifying as he logged the fifth quickest time during qualifying for tonight’s O’Reilley Auto Parts 300.

The Woodlands, Texas native backed up a quick pace in practice with a great run in qualifying that featured some tricky weather changes. He advanced to Q3 for the fourth time this year and made the most of it as he posted the fifth fastest time of the session. He will start right behind Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Kyle Larson for tonight’s O’Riley Auto Parts 300. The run also gives CGR a reason to smile following a difficult week following the passing of car chief Ryan Shea.

“Our car’s been really fast all weekend,” Poole told Tribute Racing after qualifying. “We’ve really been stepping it up each week and what an awesome place to do it at my home race at Texas Motor Speedway. This one’s for Shea, we certainly miss him here at the track.”

“I’ve won at every track here except for the big track. From the dirt track to the 1/5 mile, the road course, the quarter mile here on the frontstretch so it would just be really awesome to pull our car into victory lane.”

Poole is coming off a 13th place finish at Auto Club Speedway and currently sits 10th in the NASCAR Xfinity Series standings with a best finish of of 10th at Phoenix. The run mirrors his previous career best start of fifth earlier this year at Atlanta.
