Race 2 qualifying washed out

Qualifying for today’s race 2 at Detroit has been called off on the count of rain after only one session ran to comepletion.

Rookie Sage Karam paced the field during the wet first session and was set to make a career best start.

The second session ran for a total of four minutes before standing water brought the session to a halt and eventually to a cancellation.

This puts Juan Pablo Montoya on the pole, who would have originally have lined up in the middle of the pack with teammate Will Power alongside.
