Ricciardo hopes for wet race in Austin

Despite constant deluge dominating the US Grand Prix weekend so far, conditions are set to improve by the race start time of 2:00 pm today when there will only be a 15 percent chance of showers.

Qualifying this morning followed the script of the weekend and thus Daniel Ricciardo and Danil Kvyat line their Red Bulls up on row two behind the all conquering Mercedes. The wet, low grip conditions allowed the down on power Red Bull chassis to shine and close the gap on the Silver Arrows.

Today’s race presents perhaps Red Bull’s best chance to salvage some dignity from 2015 and bag a win.

Despite the wet weather chops of both Hamilton and Rosberg, Ricciardo is one of the most dynamic drivers on the grid today and a fantastic over taker.

In the press conference I asked him if this afternoon’s mixed conditions would be better if they tilted to the dry side or the wet and his enthusiasm for a more wet race was palpable.

“In the wet you can improvise, thats where it makes it more fun. I think the driver and the car can make more of a difference in the rain, so I hope we have a proper wet race.”
