By Toby Christie, NASCAR Editor The West Coast swing is just about complete for the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Auto Club Speedway in Fonatana, California is on tap for this weekend, and is the final stop of the swing. The Cup series heads into the track on the high of a photo finish in Phoenix. Overall, four different drivers have won the four races to start the season, and I fully expect there to be a fifth driver claiming their spot in this year’s Chase this weekend. To beRead More
By David Morgan, NASCAR Writer As the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Auto Club Speedway this weekend for the Auto Club 400, four different drivers have made their way to victory lane in the first four races of the season, but one familiar face has yet to win in the Cup Series, despite his domination in the Xfinity Series thus far in 2016. Of course, the driver I’m referring to is the defending Sprint Cup champion, Kyle Busch. Through the first four races, Busch has been in the huntRead More
By Joey Barnes, Editor-in-Chief AVONDALE, Ariz. – There may not be an easy answer as to why Joey Logano struggled on Sunday in the Good Sam 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. Last year’s Daytona 500 champion came to the 1-mile oval with momentum on his side following a runner up result at Las Vegas last weekend. Logano qualified ninth for Sunday’s race and at one point ran as high as third, but once the 313 laps ticked off he crossed the finish line 18th. “We just didn’t quite get theRead More
By Joey Barnes, Editor-in-Chief FORT WORTH, Texas – Current NASCAR XFINITY Series championship leader Chris Buescher doesn’t have anything announced for next season, but says he likely will return to NASCAR’s second-tier tour. Buescher, a two-time winner in XFINITY this season, ran six races in the Sprint Cup Series this season for Front Row Motorsports with his highest finish being 20th at Auto Club Speedway. The Roush-Fenway Racing driver did not appear to be unsettled about having nothing prepared for 2016 during a conference with the media today at TexasRead More

Auto Club Speedway off for 2016

The Verizon IndyCar Series will not return to Auto Club Speedway in 2016 after a 4-year run. According to a statement from the series, both sides were close to a deal for the race to return for the series finale, but could not agree on a start time for an east coast television audience. “There was a tremendous amount of effort put forth to keep Auto Club Speedway on the calendar. In the end, we could not identify a compromise for 2016 that was amicable for both parties,” said MarkRead More
With a record 83 lead changes over the course of 500 miles, yesterday’s MavTV 500 was  one of the wildest IndyCar races in recent memory and arguably one of the best races of the season. The race has pushed IndyCar well into cyberspace with the race being one of the highest trending topics on Twitter and whether fans and the pundits love it or hate it, people are talking about it. Leading into the race weekend, some drivers (notably Juan Pablo Montoya) expressed concerns on Friday in criticism of theRead More

Keselowski Surges to Victory in Last Lap Thriller

FONTANA, Calif.—After Sunday’s Auto Club 400, there may be a warrant issued for Brad Keselowski. After all, the driver of the No. 2 Team Penske Ford committed his own version of “Grand Theft Auto” at Auto Club Speedway—he stole an entire race. Benefitting from a four-tire call on the last lap of regulation and two opportune cautions that extended the event nine laps beyond its scheduled distance, Keselowski passed polesitter Kurt Busch on the final lap (209) and pulled away to win his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race ofRead More
