The Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg put on the qualifying duel of the season from the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria today. Hamilton had the best time of Q3 going into the final runs of the session when he had a dramatic spin after locking up at the beginning of his hot lap. Le Mans predictions revisited

The 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans turned out to be a historic homecoming for Porsche claiming a 1-2 victory. My pre-race predictions were somewhat less successful, let’s see how they turned out class by class. LMP1 Winner: I had predicted the No. 18 Porsche driven by Neel Jani, Marc Lieb and Romain Dumas. I didn’t get the number right but the marque was correct as the sister car driven by Nico Hulkenberg, Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber was victorious. The 18 finished fifth. Dark Horse: Eighth place was the bestRead More
Porsche is once again, back on top at Le Mans. Neel Jani stormed the circuit early tonight in the first of Le Mans, customary three qualifying sessions. He claimed a new track record of 3 minutes 16.887 seconds for the 8 megajoule 919 hybrid. His lap beat the previous record of 3 minutes 18.513 seconds held by Stephane Sarrazin in the formidable Peugeot 908 HDI-FAP. Smashing a record held by Peugeot was fitting for Porsche as their trifecta of 919’s poses the greatest threat Audi has faced at La SartheRead More
Lewis Hamilton cruised to victory in a thrilling Canadian Grad Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve today. Despite late race instructions from the team to lift and coast 50 and then 100 meters entering the corners to save fuel, Hamilton had the race well in hand over team mate Nico Rosberg and crossed the line 2.285 seconds clear to claim his fourth victory of the year. Vettel and Massa move forward Behind Hamilton the race was frantic and fantastic for all 70 laps. A major talking point were Ferrari’s Sebastian VettelRead More

The announcement comes on the 50th anniversary of Ford’s first Le Mans triumph, when Chris Amon andRead More
Nico Rosberg won his third consecutive Monaco Grand Prix after teammate Lewis Hamilton was told by Mercedes to pit from the race lead in the closing stages. Hamilton had built up an incredible 19s lead, only for Mercedes to completely throw it away. A spectacular collision between Max Verstappen and Romain Grosjean sent the 17-year-old rookie hard into the barrier at the end of the front straight, bringing out the safety car. During the ensuing safety car period, Mercedes frantically brought Lewis in for fresh tires, but Nico Rosberg andRead More

The opening 2015 Formula One two day in-season test at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya featured a blend of series regulars and F1 hopefuls, just days following the Spanish Grand Prix. Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg, winner of the Spanish Grand Prix, set the tone early by topping the time sheets and clicking off 146 laps in the morning session. Mercedes, along with Red Bull, Ferrari and Toro Rosso, were appointed to help tire manufacturer Pirelli test new rubber over the course of the two day test with Rosberg’s time of 1:24.374s leadingRead More
Despite Bernie Ecclestone’s joke that the only thing they can agree to is when to meet, the F1 Strategy Group convenes today to plan for 2017 and beyond. Chief concerns include allowing a fifth engine this season and a fairer allotment of FIA prize money. Neither of which will be addressed because the big 5 present: Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, Red Bull and Williams will not want to give up their slice of the pie or hand any concessions to their rivals. Despite Ecclestone’s vehement hatred, the V6 hybrids are setRead More
