Sebastian Vettel went quickest in final practice for the Monaco Grand Prix, edging out Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton by just under two hundredths of a second in a tight battle that saw the top four drivers covered by just 0.157s. Nico Rosberg set the fastest lap of second practice for the Spanish Grand, finishing 0.25s ahead of Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen. In the morning session Ferrari had set the pace as the only team to use the soft tyres, but when Rosberg  bolted on the yellow-banded Pirelli tyres in the afternoon session the Mercedes driver was able to eclipse the Italian squad. The Finn got a decent start, moving to the inside of eventual race winner Nico Rosberg for second entering Turn 1 before pushing up the track and opening the inside lane.
