By Luis Torres, Staff Writer Two drivers misfortunes became one man’s tremendous gain. That man was Daniel Suarez, who finished fifth in Sunday’s Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan International Speedway. After facing near disaster during Saturday’s final practice when a tire went down, Suarez’s quiet race day led to his third top-five this season and the first since the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series’ last visit at Michigan in June, where he scored a fourth. More importantly, Suarez cut down his deficit from 23 down to six markers with just threeRead More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Correspondent William Byron had just enough fuel to score a top-10 finish at Michigan International Speedway. The Hendrick Motorsports driver restarted inside the top-10 in the No. 24 Liberty University Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 on the edge of the fuel mileage window. Byron battled Kyle Busch, Ryan Preece, as well as his teammates Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver also managed his fuel while battling for position. In doing so, Byron lost positions to Busch and Preece in the closing laps.Read More
By David Morgan, Associate Editor Ben Rhodes may have been on the outside looking in when the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Playoff Grid was set after the conclusion of Saturday’s Corrigan Oil 200 at Michigan International Speedway, but the Thorsport Racing driver now has a renewed vigor to turn things around over the remaining races of the 2019 campaign. Entering the regular season finale on the two-mile track, Rhodes was in a must win situation after coming up short on a trip to Victory Lane in the first 15Read More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Correspondent Young’s Motorsports driver Tyler Dippel came close to becoming a playoff upset and earned his first NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series top-five finish. In overtime, Dippel’s No. 02 Jersey Filmmaker Chevrolet Silverado lined up on the outside. The rookie driver followed fellow rookie Sheldon Creed as the duo challenged Austin Hill for the lead of the Corrigan Oil 200. Creed and Dippel cleared Brett Moffitt and Harrison Burton by the exit of turns one and two. However, neither driver were close enough on the highRead More
By Reid Spencer, NASCAR Wire Service BROOKLYN, Mich. – Austin Hill’s victory in Saturday’s Corrigan Oil 200 at Michigan International Speedway provided sweet relief for two-time NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series champion Matt Crafton. With Hill’s second victory of the season, Crafton has a chance to run for a third title, having cliched the final spot in the series Playoffs on points. The outcome—and Crafton’s fate—weren’t decided until the final moments of a race that went five laps beyond its scheduled distance of 100 laps. For two nail-biting laps ofRead More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer A simple start in Saturday’s Corrigan Oil 200 at Michigan International Speedway was all Grant Enfinger needed to do to clinch the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series regular season championship and indeed he did. The Alabaman’s quiet but consistent day ended with a seventh place result, summing up his regular season to a tee. Although winless after 16 races, Enfinger has finished in the top-10 in 13 of them and will seeded second in the eight-man championship battle. This was a result of earning 19 playoffRead More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer Kyle Busch Motorsports, the team to beat in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series throughout the decade, is out of the playoffs. In a tremendously disappointing campaign, neither Harrison Burton nor Todd Gilliland were able to score an elusive victory, let alone finish in the top-10 in Saturday’s Corrigan Oil 200 at Michigan International Speedway. No matter the bells and whistles KBM tried to do to get either driver in excellent position to win and take the eighth and final spot, it simply didn’t pay off.Read More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer The Richard Childress Racing duo of Austin Dillon and Daniel Hemric will start at the rear of the field for Sunday’s Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan International Speedway. This occurred after NASCAR officials disallowed both drivers’ qualifying times after their Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 entries were found having unapproved alternators. Consequently, it results an L1-level penalty and according to Bob Pockrass’ tweet about the matter, NASCAR stated the following penalties: Both Dillon and Hemric will be deducted 10 drivers points, 10 owners points and crew chiefs DannyRead More
