By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer Athletes in their final events before moving from one team to another are often considered a ‘lame duck.’ Current Richard Petty Motorsports driver Aric Almirola does not want that label. Almirola has just two Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races left with the team before departing for Stewart Haas Racing next year. Almirola’s tenure at RPM started at the 2010 Martinsville Playoff race. Since then he has earned one victory (Daytona 2014), 11 top-fives, 30 top-10s, and one pole position for the team. By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer When Ricky Stenhouse Jr. takes to the track at Phoenix Raceway this weekend, he will be driving a very special car. The Roush Fenway Racing team will pay tribute to their longtime competitor, engine partner, and 2018 NASCAR Hall of Famer Robert Yates. The paint scheme echoes the one used by Davey Allison when he won at Phoenix in 1991 and 1992 while driving for Yates. Yates passed away in October after a lengthy battle with Liver Cancer. Earlier this year in May, he wasRead More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer  At the start of a typical race, a driver starts with four fresh tires. Saturday night’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway was anything but typical for NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Cole Custer. Race strategy by Custer’s Stewart Haas Racing crew chief Jeff Meendering helped Custer earn that top-five finish. At the end of Stage 1, the Meendering elected for his rookie driver to take the wave aroundRead More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer  Prior to the First Data 500 at Martinsville Speedway, Brad Keselowski called the race a ‘must-win.’ After missing victory lane, the 2012 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Champion will be forced to fight through both Texas Motor Speedway and Phoenix Raceway to make it to the Championship Four at Homestead-Miami Speedway. For a while, it looked as if Keselowski had called his shot, as he swept both stages of the, earning 20 additional points. On a late restart, however, contact between Keselowski and Chase ElliottRead More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer With Chip Ganassi Racing in a tight battle for the NASCAR Xfinity Series Owner’s Championship, the team has tabbed Alex Bowman for the races at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Phoenix Raceway. Ganassi’s No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro is already locked into the Round of Eight after Tyler Reddick scored his first career victory at Kentucky Speedway. In 50 career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, Bowman has five top-fives, 13 top-10s, and three pole positions. He has three starts at Charlotte with a best finish of 12th inRead More

By Toby Christie, NASCAR Editor It was looking like a story book finish to a whirlwind week for Kyle Busch as he had a three second lead in the waning laps of Sunday’s Camping World 500 at Phoenix Raceway. Then a cut tire by Busch’s biggest current rival, Joey Logano brought out a caution which ended Busch’s chances for his first win of the year. Busch started the day from the ninth position. The driver of the No. 18 Skittles Toyota Camry worked his way to sixth early in theRead More
