By Christopher DeHarde, Staff Writer Sebastien Bourdais had a less than ideal qualifying session this past Saturday at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course as his mistake in the first round brought out a red flag, dropping him to last place for Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 for the Verizon IndyCar Series. The No. 18 Sealmaster Honda lined up 24th and relied on an aggressive three stop strategy to get to the front. Pitting for the first time on Lap 10, Bourdais had worked his way up to 19th place. Using the newly-found advantage

In the opening practice, Honda had eight of the top 10 positions while in the second session they had seven of the top 10. On the odd side of statistics, only one driver stayed in the top five in both practice sessions and that was Ed

The current INDYCAR points leader has five victories at Mid-Ohio (2007, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014) and currently leads Josef Newgarden by 62 points with five races to go including Mid-Ohio. Behind Dixon and Newgarden in the standings are the top half of Andretti Autosport’s quartet. Alexander Rossi

J. Foyt Racing. Kanaan moved to 13th on the start up from his 15th place starting position and gradually moved through the field. Kanaan got to 11th on the second lap of the race and got as high as sixth before making his first pit stop on Lap 22. The

A restart on the Lap 33 proved to be the turning point of Sunday’s Verizon IndyCar Series event as Graham Rahal ran into the back of Chilton entering Turn 1, which led to a seven-car crash and forced the latter to retire from the 85-lap contest. The drama started as soon as race leader Josef Newgarden went up in the
Read More By Christopher DeHarde, Staff Writer TORONTO — Verizon IndyCar Series rookie Robert Wickens has had a season to remember so far in 2018. Scoring a podium finish in his home country’s race only added to that as the No. 6 Lucas Oil Honda crossed the finish line third in Sunday’s Honda Indy Toronto on the streets near Exhibition Place. Wickens started tenth alongside fellow Canadian and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports teammate James Hinchcliffe and moved to eighth on the start after passing Hinchcliffe and Jordan King. Wickens was one of the earliest

Read More By Christopher DeHarde, Staff Writer TORONTO — Friday has come and gone for the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series’s annual visit north of the border for the Honda Indy Toronto and if the practice sheets are any indication, Honda will be tough to beat around the 1.786 mile street circuit. Honda-powered cars took the top six positions in the opening practice session and the top five positions in the second practice session with Scott Dixon leading both sessions. Will Power was the fastest Chevrolet in the first session, Spencer Pigot was the

James Hinchcliffe is coming off of a win in the Iowa Corn 300 last week at Iowa Speedway but has some mixed odds heading into Toronto. Despite having two third place finishes on the streets near Exhibition Place, the 2016 Indianapolis 500 polesitter has not finished higher than sixth in any race
Read More By Christopher DeHarde, Staff Writer NEWTON, Iowa — Ryan Hunter-Reay’s issues started early during Sunday’s Iowa Corn 300. The 2012 Verizon IndyCar Series champion had no radio to his pits so while the pit crew could communicate to Hunter-Reay, the reverse was not possible. Later on, Hunter-Reay had a major vibration on a particular set of tires which caused his last major issue of the day. “It was a high frequency vibration though the car and shortly after that I lost all the camber shims in the left rear,” said Hunter-Reay.
