By Reid Spencer, NASCAR Wire Service LAS VEGAS – Kyle Busch is the only driver to have won a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway from the pole position, a feat he accomplished in 2009. But Busch won’t have that opportunity in Sunday’s Kobalt 400 at the 1.5-mile race track (3:30 p.m. ET on FOX). Busch was 24th in the first round of Friday’s knockout qualifying session, barely advancing to Round 2. Ultimately, he qualified 23rd at 192.795 mph, considerably slower than brother Kurt Busch’s pole-winning

Absent from the first 11 races of the season because of a broken right leg and left foot sustained in the NASCAR XFINITY Series opener at Daytona in February, Busch pulled away from fellow Championship Round driver Kevin Harvick after a restart with seven laps left and crossed
Read More Neel Jani came through in a clinch to snag pole position and make it an all Porsche front row for tomorrow’s 6 hours of the Circuit of the Americas, from Austin, Texas. The Swiss driver put in a flyer in his No. 18 919 hybrid crossing the line with a strong 1:46.018 displacing the sister car of Brendon Hartley, Timo Bernhard, Mark Webber by just 0.146 of a second. Behind the dominant Porsches lines up the first Audi machine of Loic Duval, Oliver Jarvis and Lucas di Grassi. The championship

Michael Waltrip Racing and Clint Bowyer have mutually agreed to part ways at the conclusion of the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, MWR announced early Wednesday morning. MWR also announced it will no longer field a full-time entry in 2016. The team, which has fielded full-time cars at NASCAR’s premier level since 2007, currently owns cars driven by Bowyer (No. 15) and David Ragan (No. 55). Both will continue to run full-time for the remainder of this season. “This decision was made after weighing several different options and scenarios,”
Read More The 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans turned out to be a historic homecoming for Porsche claiming a 1-2 victory. My pre-race predictions were somewhat less successful, let’s see how they turned out class by class. LMP1 Winner: I had predicted the No. 18 Porsche driven by Neel Jani, Marc Lieb and Romain Dumas. I didn’t get the number right but the marque was correct as the sister car driven by Nico Hulkenberg, Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber was victorious. The 18 finished fifth. Dark Horse: Eighth place was the best
Read More The 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans is entering the final quarter of the race with very little change at the front of the running order. LMP1 Nick Tandy leads in the #19 Porsche over his teammate Mark Webber in the #17 Porsche. The Audi trio of Rene Rast in the 9, Marcel Fassler in the #7 and Oliver Jarvis in the #8 are behind them while Neel Jani is sixth in class in the remaining Porsche. Toyota are much further off the pace as they are six and eight
Read More Halfway into the running of the 83rd 24 Hours of Le Mans and Porsche leads Audi as the two rival marques battle neck and neck for victory in the year’s most important motor race. Night has fully descended around Circuit de la Sarthe and the lead prototypes are slashing their way through traffic, lights flashing, drivers fully awake for the long haul till dawn. LMP1 F1 hot shoe Nico Hulkenberg handed over the No. 19 Porsche 919 to team mate Nick Tandy at the 9 hour mark, just past midnight
Read More Porsche is once again, back on top at Le Mans. Neel Jani stormed the circuit early tonight in the first of Le Mans, customary three qualifying sessions. He claimed a new track record of 3 minutes 16.887 seconds for the 8 megajoule 919 hybrid. His lap beat the previous record of 3 minutes 18.513 seconds held by Stephane Sarrazin in the formidable Peugeot 908 HDI-FAP. Smashing a record held by Peugeot was fitting for Porsche as their trifecta of 919’s poses the greatest threat Audi has faced at La Sarthe
Read More When safety is at the forefront of conversation in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Carl Edwards stirred the pot with how drivers navigate through accidents, speeding by cars at full speed on restrictor plate tracks. On the final lap of the Sprint Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday Edwards was spun out running in the top 10, sliding sideways for what seemed like an eternity while the field sped by to race for the finish with NASCAR officials deciding not to throw a caution. The JGR
