The Azerbaijan Grand Prix had it all, from a surprise winner for the second year in a row, a lot of crashes and controversy at Red Bull, to a second podium in Baku for Sergio Perez and Force India.
Sebastian Vettel initially pulled away from Lewis Hamilton and appeared to have the race in the bag, but late pressure from Valtteri Bottas and the safety car period after Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen crashed in turn 1 turned the race on its head.
Vettel out braked himself which swiftly demoted him from first to fourth. Bottas seemed to have it in the made, but a spectacular puncture at the very end of the race meant he didn’t even finish. That left Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen who had been on the back foot all weekend compared to their team mates, free to cruise to first and second place.
Behind them Sergio Perez delivered a sensational podium in Baku for the second time in three years, following on his second place finish around the street circuit in 2016.
If you missed the race, the highlights cover all the main points. If you tuned in live or recorded it on your DVR, consider this your next day refresher of all the major talking points that will have fans buzzing between now and the Spanish Grand Prix in two weeks.
Enjoy.
