By Adam Tate, Associate Editor Fernando Alonso phoned in from Montreal to the on air television broadcast of the Rainguard Water Sealers 600 at Texas Motor Speedway last night to talk with the NBCSN hosts and give some more of his thoughts on IndyCar. Today’s Canadian Grand Prix marks his return to F1 after his electrifying Indy 500 debut two weeks ago, and the broadcast team wanted to get his opinion on the oval racing at TMS. He hailed the Texas race, then in its early stages as “spectacular” and saidRead More
By Adam Tate, Associate Editor FORT WORTH, Texas – Fresh from dominating the Verizon IndyCar Series Detroit doubleheader, Graham Rahal hung on in a wild race at Texas Motor Speedway to claim fourth place in the Rainguard Water Sealers 600. The 28-year-old stayed near the front of the pack after starting 11th. Though Rahal failed to lead the race at any point, he did something that proved very hard for his fellow drivers, he stayed out of trouble. “I’m happy we’re safe and out of here in one piece,” an elatedRead More

By Adam Tate, Associate Editor With the rumors swirling around McLaren-Honda like vultures, Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg has gone on record saying he would welcome Fernando Alonso back to Renault should the two-time World Champ leave McLaren at season’s end. Speaking to Speed Week ahead of this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix, the German driver was very excited at the possibility of Alonso considering a Renault return. “I think it would be great,” said Hulkenberg. “It would be great not only for the whole team, but for me as well to compete with one ofRead More
By Adam Tate, Associate Editor Continuing the Verizon IndyCar Series’ unpredictable season, Charlie Kimball scored his first career pole position today with a new IndyCar Series’ track record at Texas Motor Speedway. The Ganassi driver’s two lap average speed of 222.556 mph topped Will Power’s previous top mark from 2015, no doubt aided by the repaved and re-profiled track surface of TMS. “It’s pretty fantastic. It feels really, really good actually,” Kimball said of his first pole position. “The car was pretty good straight out of the trailer for practice. IRead More
By Adam Tate, Associate Editor Robert Kubica has completed his first Formula 1 test in six years. The 2008 Canadian Grand Prix winner had an incredibly bright F1 future curtailed in February 2011 after crashing his Skoda Fabia rally car in the Ronde di Andora. The accident left Kubica’s arms and hands severely injured and put an immediate end to his single seater career. After intensive rehabilitation he was able to recover and went on to compete in various World Rally Championship and sports car races in the years that followed. RecentlyRead More
By Adam Tate, Associate Editor Sebastian Vettel is in a class of his own in 2017. The Ferrari driver just picked up his third win and sixth podium of the season in spectacular fashion by overhauling team mate Kimi Raikkonen with a strategy that recalls memories of his friend and mentor Michael Schumacher. He is calm, he is confident, he is excited, and it shows. He is relishing the budding rivalry with Lewis Hamilton and the challenge of beating Mercedes, but he is already a step ahead of them. In anotherRead More
By Adam Tate, Associate Editor With Sebastian Vettel’s victory in the Monaco Grand Prix, Scuderia Ferrari snapped a 16 year winless street on the streets of the principality. Much like the last Ferrari victory in Monte Carlo, which Michael Schumacher won in 2001, this was also a one-two for the team, with pole sitter Kimi Raikkonen who came home a disappointed second. It was the team’s first one-two in since the infamous German Grand Prix of 2010, where Felipe Massa who was leading the race a year to the day afterRead More
By Adam Tate, Associate Editor After an incredible rookie performance at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this May, two time F1 Champion Fernando Alonso’s Indy 500 and Triple Crown dream ground to a halt with a late race engine failure this afternoon. Alonso led the race multiple times, for 27 laps, and had the highest average speed before his Honda engine let go as he was running in seventh place with 21 laps to go. He immediately pulled off and was greeted by a standing ovation from the 300,000 strong crowd when heRead More
By Adam Tate, Associate Editor As legend has it 1936 Indy 500 winner Louis Meyer pulled into Victory Lane after a particularly hot race and asked for a cold bottle of buttermilk. After seeing the bottle of milk in Meyer’s hand in a newspaper photo the next day, an unknown Milk Foundation executive made it his mission to make victory milk a tradition. It caught on for a few years, but then fell out of fashion. The tradition was brought back for the 1956 race and it has held strong forRead More
