By Luis Torres, Staff Writer It’s expected to have a thriller in a Formula One grand prix race 1-2 times a year. This year we’ve seen multiple thrillers, but the Hungarian Grand Prix takes the cake. Everyone around the world had a glass case of emotions when witnessing the race unfold. The best way to symbolize Sunday’s wacky race that even included one car on the dummy grid is Thalia and Melpomene. You had your joy and comedic moments (Thalia), but also sad and tragic implications (Melpomene). Each of the 70Read More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer NTT IndyCar Series veteran Sage Karam will become the latest competitor to dabble NASCAR. In three weeks time, Karam will drive Jordan Anderson Racing’s No. 31 Chevrolet Camaro in the Xfinity Series. With Montage Mountain Resorts as his primary sponsor, everything is set into stone for the Nazareth native to compete in the Pennzoil 150 at Indianapolis. “It has always been a dream of mine to be able to compete at this level with some of the world’s best stock car drivers,” said Karam in aRead More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer Joey Logano needed some luck on his side to get a strong top-five effort in the race-shortened Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. That’s because during the near two-hour red flag due to rain, problems arose, resulting Logano to serve a two-lap penalty. One of the crew members of his No. 22 Autotrader Ford Mustang took a picture of the car under the rain delay. That’s because Logano knew there was a piece of rubber in the linkage. It created a safety concernRead More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer The Winston from 20 years ago was replicated in Sunday’s Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Unlike that night at Charlotte, backup cars won’t be allowed. Much to the chagrin of both Kyle Busch and Martin Truex, Jr., who were the most impacted from Mother Nature. On Lap 6, Busch and Truex were running 1-2 until rain in Turn 1 caused the track to lose grip. Consequently, both lost control and stuffed into the wall. They weren’t alone as their Joe Gibbs RacingRead More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer NASCAR Xfinity Series standouts Austin Cindric and Harrison Burton will be competing for Cup Series Rookie of the Year honors in 2022. While Cindric was already confirmed to make the move up months ago, he’ll no longer be driving for Wood Brothers Racing. Instead, he’ll join Team Penske in their flagship No. 2 Ford Mustang with Discount Tire being a primary sponsor. “Throughout my NASCAR career, I’ve grown a lot as a driver and an individual,” said Cindric in a press release. “There are so manyRead More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer On paper, Martin Truex, Jr. started fifth in Sunday’s Quaker State 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. That all changed during pre-race inspections when his No. 19 Auto-Owners Insurance Toyota Camry failed twice. The first issue came from the deck lid, which NASCAR deemed to be too high. His Joe Gibbs Racing crew were able to fix the issue, but a new issue rose. The tail wasn’t compliant to the sanctioning body’s liking. By the rulebook, Truex had to give up his starting position and work hisRead More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer Christopher Bell finished second in Sunday’s Jockey Made in America 250 at Road America. The road of getting his first top-five since Richmond wasn’t easy, it had to be earned. Whether it’s being penalized for driving through too many pit boxes or going wide, Bell certainly had a compelling afternoon. But Stage 3 was when the Daytona Road Course winner really shined. As Chase Elliott was in a league of his own, Bell had to settle for “best of the rest.” Considering the season he’s hadRead More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer Austin Cindric showcased he was a true contender in the Jockey Made in America 250 at Road America, but his day was altered before the end of Stage 2. While battling hard against the likes of Matt DiBenedetto and Kyle Busch, things went south on Lap 24. Entering Turn 5, Cindric’s No. 33 Pirtek Ford Mustang locked up and lost the lead to Busch. Moments later, Cindric spun around which resulted him to enter pit road where they found out the issue. Turned out one wheelRead More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer Marcus Ericsson was having a super quiet, yet strong 4th of July at Mid-Ohio. That all changed as his eyes was towards victory in the Honda Indy 200. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be as he wasn’t able to beat Josef Newgarden, losing by 0.8790 seconds. On a day Newgarden owned the competition once again, Ericsson really put the pressure on the Penske competitor. It really transpired after both competitors pitted for the final time on Laps 54-55. Ericsson pitted a lap later than Newgarden, butRead More
By Luis Torres, Staff Writer Will Power’s miserable season continued during Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio. While battling Scott Dixon for fourth on the Lap 4 restart, contact was made entering Turn 5. It sent Power into a spin, right in front of oncoming traffic. Several drivers were able to avoid the plum of smoke, including Sebastien Bourdais. The same can’t be said for Ed Jones, who crashed into Power. Such collision destroyed Jones’ left front suspension, symbolizing another retirement. Power’s day was also over as this incident ended anyRead More
