Matt Crafton Dominates the Field in Atlanta Truck Win

HAMPTON, Ga.—There’s no letup in Matt Crafton. The two-time defending NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion, Crafton charged to the front from his 15th-place starting position and ran away from the rest of the field in Saturday’s Hyundai Construction Equipment 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. At the end of a 74-lap green flag run—the longest in NCWTS history at Atlanta—Crafton crossed the finish line 8.752 seconds ahead of runner-up Ty Dillon. Keystone Light Polesitter Ben Kennedy came home third, a distant 10.275 seconds behind the race winner. Daniel Suarez finishedRead More

Harvick Holds Off Logano Late to Win XFINITY Race in Atlanta

HAMPTON, Ga.—If you had to pick one driver to knock Joey Logano off his pedestal at Atlanta Motor Speedway, you couldn’t make a better choice than Kevin Harvick. Holding off Logano after a restart on Lap 140 of 163, Harvick won Saturday’s Hisense 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series race, ending a success streak that saw Logano beat Harvick for the win in the Daytona 500 and edge Harvick for the Coors Light Pole for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 (1 p.m. ET on FOX) at AMS.Read More
A dramatic pair of races today in bitterly cold conditions at Barber Motorsports Park saw young Frenchman Nico Jamin of Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing edge Brazilian Victor Franzoni to the fifth annual Cooper Tires Winterfest title. American Jake Eidson also was in the thick of the action until his Pabst Racing entry was cruelly hobbled by a fuel pump failure while holding second place in the early stages of the final race.   The pre-season series was cut short by one race following the cancellation of yesterday’s trackRead More
Just as Team Pelfrey’s Jack Aitken predicted following the first two rounds of the Cooper Tires Winterfest at NOLA Motorsports Park last week, the outcome of the pre-season mini-series went all the way down to the wire. The first of three scheduled races at Barber Motorsports Park was cancelled yesterday due to inclement winter weather, but today’s action could hardly have been hotter. In the end, the title was decided in favor of Aitken by virtue of the fact he posted the fastest lap of the race in this afternoon’sRead More

Logano Claims Victory in Spectacular Daytona 500

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—The record will reflect that Joey Logano won Sunday’s 57th Daytona 500 under caution, when a multicar wreck on the backstretch forced NASCAR to wave the yellow flag as Logano led the field into the final corner on the second lap of a green-white-checkered-flag finish. But the notation of that final caution does no justice to the memory of a race that produced some of the most scintillating restrictor-plate racing in the history of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. From a restart on Lap 182 of a scheduledRead More

Reed Strikes at Right Time in Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—With a spectacular last-lap move to the inside, not to mention a timely shove from Roush Fenway Raceway teammate Chris Buescher, Ryan Reed stormed to his first NASCAR XFINITY Series victory in Saturday’s Alert Today Florida 300 at Daytona International Speedway. “Oh, my God, we won Daytona!” exulted Reed, who has overcome a diagnosis of Type I diabetes to drive full-time in the XFINITY Series. Buescher finished second, .089 seconds behind, with Ty Dillon, Austin Dillon and Brad Keselowski claiming positions three through five. Keselowski was leading atRead More

Aitken and Tan Split the Honors in Cooper Tires Winterfest

There was nothing to choose between Jack Aitken and Weiron Tan during today’s pair of Cooper Tires Winterfest races at NOLA Motorsport Park. The Englishman and the Malaysian scored one win apiece and are now tied on points as the Mazda Road to Indy pre-season mini-series competitors head to Barber Motorsports Park for three more races next Wednesday and Thursday.   Aitken started on pole for Team Pelfrey this morning, only to be outfumbled at the start when Andretti Autosport’s Tan made a clear jump as the green flag waved.Read More
