For the third year in a row, Bobby Pierce will No. 63 Premier Waste Services / Allgayer / Oakwood Tire Chevrolet Silverado for MB Motorsports at Eldora Speedway. There, Pierce and the team will attempt to finally win the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Aspen Dental 150 after coming up short in the two previous attempts.
Two years ago, Pierce exploded onto the scene, earning the pole and tearing the Silverado apart en-route to a second-place finish. Last year, he dominated before spinning late and kissing the inside wall with the nose of his truck. Without a working reverse gear, Pierce’s race was over after leading 102 laps.
MB Motorsports team owner Mike Mittler spoke highly of Eldora and Pierce,
“Eldora is the premier race of the year for our team. Twice now Bobby has almost won it all. Last year we sat on the pole, led the most laps and if not for a transmission issue, were in position to bring home the checkers- and Bobby was sick as a dog when he did it. That was an unbelievable performance on Bobby’s part. Unbelievable. The year before, Bobby sat on the pole and came home second. Here’s hoping the third time’s the proverbial charm.”
Pierce undersold his success at Eldora,
“Well, we’ve done okay the last two years at Eldora. If we can keep the truck together and out of trouble on the track, I think we’ve got as good a shot as anyone. I love racing at Eldora. The facility is fantastic and the history there is amazing.”
Mittler also praised track owner Tony Stewart, comparing the event to the Daytona 500,
“Where the Daytona 500 is the crown jewel for the Cup guys, for our team, it’s Eldora. Tony Stewart and his crew put on a fantastic program. Eldora Speedway is second to none. I can’t wait to get to the track with the crew and Bobby.”
Pierce joins 2016 USAC Silver Crown Champion Chris Windom for the Aspen Dental 150 at ‘The Big E.’ Windom will make his debut in the No. 36 for MB Motorsports as a teammate to Pierce.
Pierce is considered a ‘dirt ringer,’ being a regular on the UMP DIRTcar Late Model circuit. He finished second in the 2013 UMP Summer Nationals “Hell Tour.” Pierce then went on to win the UMP DIRTcar Late Model National Championship in 2014 and 2015. He also won the “Hell Tour” in 2015.
Pierce has a total of seven NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts, five of which came on pavement. His best pavement finish to date came at Phoenix Raceway, where he finished 16th.
Now Pierce, Mittler, and the entire MB Motorsports team will prepare for the Aspen Dental 150 at Eldora Speedway on July 19.
