After being left without a ride when Red Horse Racing shut down in May, Brett Moffitt has found a home with GMS Racing. Moffitt will pilot the No. 96 Northland Foundation Inc. Chevrolet Camaro in the US Cellular 250 Presented by America Ethanol at Iowa Speedway on July 29.
Moffitt has one career NASCAR Xfinity Series start, which came at his hometrack, Iowa Speedway. He finished ninth after starting 10th that day.
Moffitt was excited to race in front of his hometown crowd.
“I am really excited to be racing in my home state again. I’m extremely thankful for the opportunity with GMS Racing and I’m very grateful of the support that the Iowa community has shown and put in to support this race. It would be really awesome to bring home a solid finish in front of my hometown fans.”
In addition to the one NASCAR Xfinity Series start at the 7/8-mile speedway, Moffitt has seven starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East starts. In those seven starts, he has one victory, five top fives, six Top 10s, and one pole position. Moffitt also earned a top five at Iowa in the K&N Pro’s West Series.
GMS Racing’s General Manager, Mike Beam, was thrilled to bring Moffitt into the fold,
“We are thrilled to have Brett Moffitt in the No. 96 at Iowa (Speedway). We are always looking to grow our program and the more drivers we can get in the seat the better. Moffitt is a class act and a very talented driver, we are honored to have him behind the wheel at his home track.”
Moffitt also has 13 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts, including one win, three top fives, and six Top 10s. He also has 38 starts in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series where he earned a Top 10 finish while subbing for Brian Vickers. Moffitt’s Truck Series victory came while he was subbing for Matt Tifft.
Now Moffitt, Beam, and the entire GMS Racing team will look to have a good run at what is arguably Moffitt’s best track.
